This is a great concept for a game! Everything feels satisfying and addicting, the only thing I would suggest would be to add some way of determining which layer the player is on without having to switch cameras (maybe some sort of parallax effect). Excellent work!

Developer

Thank you! I have to say that I don't now how the parallax would work when moving between layers because the difference in positions could cause some issues, but it would be interesting to think about how to find a way to show it without breaking the game or the immersion.

Really nice idea and inventive puzzles, reminds me of fez and fallblox.

The first few levels, I was a bit stuck cause I didn't understand the mechanic, the dimension change effect was too quick to see what was going on and there was no top view tutorial yet.

Other than that, the game is very polished, nice simple style and the audio goes with it very well.

Developer

Thank you!
I agree that the mechanic should've been explained better at the beginning, probably having a slower and more detailed animation the first time you use the ability could do the trick.

Fun game, I can hardly believe you created this during the jam time! Love the game, definitely S tier, other than not realllly fitting with the theme all too well, but still really good game, defo enjoyed.

nah, I take back what I said about theme, I generated 30 themes on https://letsmakeagame.net/game-jam-theme-generator/ and diving deeper fits it the most

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, and yeah we tried to go for a different approach to the theme and avoid the more direct interpretations, so it is understandable haha.

This game is straight up awesome. (Absolute 5Head idea)

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Loved the game mechanic! It blends nicely with the theme and the retro style is really captivating!

Jumping through dimensions felt juicy and fun, and there are some puzzle levels that exploit well the mechanics developed here.

The only thing I have to point out is the responsiveness in the character's movement. The left and right movement feel like the lag behind the input and the jump feels floaty, in a game where i'd expect some more precision-like movement.

Overall a great submission, great work here! :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We should take that feedback into consideration, we kind of just didn't spend that much time adjusting values for the movement script, and tried to go straight to level design, and changing those values later could've broken the already stablished levels. Next time we should spend more time perfecting the physics and feel of the game to match the focus of the gameplay.

Really cool and super underrated level. I couldn't pass level 5 for a long time cause I didn't think that I could throw the box outside. All levels were hard and creatively made well done. Also my game crashed after making it fullscreen for 2 times idk why

Developer

Thank you! We probably should've made it more obvious that you can do that, but glad you managed to figure it out :). And that crash sounds weird, never happened to me before, will probably look into it.

Cool game, I like the art style!

Developer

Thank you! :)

Really loved it. Took me a minute to get a handle on the controls, but when I did it was good. I also think the art style is very adorable and communicates the mechanics quite well.

Developer

Thank you, glad you liked it :). If it's not a problem, what were the issues you had with the controls at the beginning? So we can take that into consideration in the future.

To be honest I just didn't look at the description, and just went straight into the game so didn't realise there was that whole multi-dimension thing came with extra mechanics. A dedicated tutorial page would probably sort it.

Developer

Oh I see, the intention was for the level design and textures to kinda teach the other mechanics as the game progresses, but a tutorial page or some kind of "Narrator" to guide you through the beginning wouldn't hurt.

Was very cool. It is amazing how polished it is. I had some problems with controls, maybe adding more keys for jumping would be nice, such as W and up arrow.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! The main reason we didn't use up and w as jump keys is the fact that you use those keys to change between depth layers, but we could maybe add an option to customize the controls for a potential expansion.

Really fun game with a wonderful artstyle. My only real complaint would be that the animation for moving between layers gets annoying the more often it's needed, but the rest of the game is really well put together!

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I am glad you had fun with our game!!
About the camera animation,  I agree that it can get quite annoying when is done too often.
We'll definitely  take that into account for some potential expansion of the game.
