Roombalow was one of the most unique puzzle experiences that i tackled with this game jam! the portal mechanic in this game was a challenging thing to get a handle on. figuring out how exactly it worked took me a couple of tries but once i understood the behaviors i knew i was in a good ride!
gameplay wise this game is very solid and well coded i saw a lot of games in this jam ( including mine) with game breaking bugs or glitches that ruined the gameplay experience but this game was solid from the start and didn't break even once. aside from the good programming, the game also has a lot of potentials with its portal mechanic! the colored portals open up a whole new alley and the order that you have to place them is another layer to the games good puzzles.
but i also have some complains, for me this was my first time tackling with ordered portal placement and portal mechanics in a puzzle game. so the lack of a tutorial was a bummer. there were new types of portals atleast every 5 or 4 levels with different behaviors, each unique with what they do. this is a good thing for a puzzle game but it gets a little annoying having to figure out what goes where and what things do. the way that you handled portals is a bit strange, i assumed that blur portal goes to the other blue portal, this worked for a while then it was more like you exit from the nearest portal so again the lack of a tutorial was a ... thing
i also don't think you should have introduced timing in your levels. i dont think its a good idea since the robot doesn't start moving right away and its not used that much later on in the game
the graphics were beautiful and the textures were great. i didn't quiet liked the old TV effect that was going on but it surly gave the environment a chilling feel
the sound design and the music were among the best i have seen in this jam! the sounds feel so natural and the music really set up some vibes!
overall this was a great puzzle experience. im looking forward to see more from the dream team!

This is great! Loved the visuals, the noise overlay makes it feel different and the audio accompanies that very well. The puzzle design has a nice difficulty curve, hope you explore the different portal mechanics more in the future! I did get a bit confused about what's the rule when there's multiple roombas and multiple set of portals and I still don't understand it. Luckly it's possible to solve the levels just by trying a few different portal placements although I'm guessing bruteforcing wasn't the intended way to get to the solution.
Really nice game overall, great job!
Nice concept! I liked the variety in puzzles, though I wish you'd explore some elements further (I think the purple portals appeared only in one level). The "old TV" visual effects were good, but a bit overbearing, making the game a little hard too look at. I don't think I should have earned a jar if I picked it up without finishing the level, felt like cheating.
It was a bit hard to deduce which portals connected with each other, I would've thought that first portal connected with the second one, the third with the fourth one and so on. I had to brute-force a level with 2 green and 2 blue portals because of this.
Thank you for avoiding hand-holding and letting me figure things out for myself.
Neat game, I like the variety of the different portal types. I'm not actually colorblind so I can't say for sure, but I'd imagine the portal variations would be pretty impenetrable for colorblind people, perhaps avoid using colour to represent critical information. The only confusing level was the one that introduced red portals; I knew where I wanted the bots to go, but had difficulty setting up the portals to connect properly. I'd imagined that they'd connect to the closest portal, or that they would connect in the order you'd placed them, like the third portal connecting to the fourth. Otherwise the levels were each nicely designed and did a good job at teaching the mechanics. Nice graphics and sound effects, overall a great puzzle game with a few surprising solutions!
This game would definitely be a seller if it had some suspense music! Really well made, beautiful entry.
Had a play of your game in this video here - at 20:20 -, where I give my thoughts while I play. Hopefully it's helpful feedback.
Loved the look and thought it had a good difficulty curve that introduced new problems you had to think in different ways to solve. Only gripe I had was it was sometimes difficult to tell which portal would connect to which, that got me stuck on some puzzles for a bit, but overall it was great level design throughout!
If you have time I'd greatly appreciate it if you could give my game a go to, happy jamming.
Fun puzzler, Really liking the static effect on the screen and really liked that you had to sometimes bounce the bot from the wall to complete parts of the puzzles.
Very nice puzzle game, could use some music though, other than that. Good work :)
A great puzzle game! The use of portals and their behavioral change is very well brought out. Good difficulty curve.
the graphics are clean but the noise is too present which is a pity I find.
It remains a very pleasant game.
Great work guys !
This was really interesting, very cool and easy to understand. Looks great as well
