Very well made. the graphics is incredible and the sounds is great. Great job! ;D
The visual of black hole is awesome.
Though the control is not intuitive for me at first, I think the idea the ship is accelerated by the black hole is cool.
The UI of menu is nice, but there is one thing I have to mention.
The setting is disabled and the text is gray, while in the mode choosing part, the one you choose would also be gray.
It's a bit confusing that whether the gray one is selected or not.
The game mechanic is interesting, especially the bullet would be influenced by the black hole.
Yet, I would consider cutting down the number of total holes and add some other stuff, so that players won't be doing the same thing for a little bit too long.
Anyway, you had done some great work!
It took me eleven minutes to find them all. The environment is very nice. The skybox texture is familiar. I've used it already.
The game is beautiful and well polished, at the beginning the controls might be a little complicated but in my case I got used to them very quickly.
Both game modes are very fun and challenging to play.
The audio suits perfectly with the gameplay on both modes, on Precision Mode a more "calm" music with a calm and precise gameplay and on Chaos Mode a more intense music combining with a very fast paced gameplay, absolutely loved it.
The UI is simple but it fits perfectly. I only had a minor problem on the main menu when selecting modes, got a little bit confused on which mode I was selected in, maybe the selected mode should be highlighted on bright white and the other darkened. But that might be just me.
Overall, amazing job! Looking forward to see more from this game!!
Thank you so much for the detailed feedback! That’s especially helpful on the menus. A jammer was nice enough to do a Let’s Play on youtube and I watched him have the same confusion you described on the game mode selection screen. Definitely a change I want to make. Can’t wait to play Downtown Rundown!
Awesome graphics and music! The button click sound in the main menu might be a little unpleasant and the shooting feels a bit unpredictable, but I suppose that's part of the game.
This is a really cool game! I would love to see more modes, maybe with the introduction of enemy ships and faster paced battles with less obstacles.
Personally, I took a second to get used to the controls because I'm used to inverted vertical controls with flying vehicles, so the addition of an option to invert controls might be nice. But it didn't take long to adjust with how snappy the controls are.
Great work!
Yes, not putting in settings for sensitivity or look inversion in time for submission was one of my bigger disappointments. Thank you for powering through that to give it a play, and thanks for the kind words! Going to give Remnants of a Holy War a play!
Had a play of your game in this video here - at 45:18 -, where I give my thoughts while I play. Hopefully it's helpful feedback.
Had quite a bit of fun zooming around in chaos mode, (since I definitely lack the skills for precision mode)! Was fun to play a flying game this jam, my only thought was turning was perhaps too forgiving? Since it's a game about gaining speed around a black hole I found it quite easy to do quick turns on the spot with the mouse when I missed things. Still fun time overall.
If you have time I'd greatly appreciate it if you could give my game a go to, happy jamming.
Wow, thank you so much for recording your playthrough. Went ahead and watched the whole thing since it was so entertaining.
I agree with you, the ship is very steerable to the point of being a little on the easy side. I’d like to adjust that once Brackeys hands the reins back over.
Me after learning the controls: "Spinning is a good trick!"
Before playing Precision mode....
Nice job! I have one question: was it intentional that you're able to just fly into the red holes with your shot charged? If so, maybe if you scaled the map up, it would make that strategy less viable? Oh, and if you scaled the map up, you could increase the pace of the game, which would feel **sweet**!
After playing Precision mode...
Ohhh, I see. I kinda think that a combination of the two modes would be perfect. A bit faster paced, a scaled up map like Precision mode...
I'm not positive how the gravity works; is it just the black hole gravity? It seemed like there were other things going on, but I couldn't figure out what.
Great job on your first jam! The core game is clean, and you could add more elements if you wanted.
Rated this again because I love it a lot! This should win!
Makes me feel like I know how to fly a spaceship, and I'm on a sci-fi movie XD
Nice game x2
the game is simple but has TONS of polish. Like even the UI looks amazing and quite professional. The controls are a bit clunky but I know how hard it can be to get realistic plane/aircraft movement. Overall well done on an amazing game!
Very clean game, minimal bugs and a neat idea. The game actually looks great too! I was secretly watching your development of the game from the snippets in the discord server and I'm glad it turned out so great!
Only problem for me really was that the keyboard controls felt a bit clunky but the mouse movement was buttery smooth. (Also the sound for clicking something in the menu was kinda high pitch haha)
(I'm glad you got your game back into the jam lol!) Hopefully there are no future accidental slips to ruin such a solid entry ;3
