In what way does your game fit the theme?
The ants, although small, need to work together to help each other to escape flooding. So, the ants are stronger together when they work together to escape

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, I did.

I can tell its not finished but that's okay its just a small game jam and its even hard to finish an entry sometimes. I love the pixel art it's very small and cute. Also, great job at creating multiple animations in the scene the plants bring so much more life into it!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback on the art!

Not bad at all for a first game jam entry! Here are my complete feedback:

* Positive points

- The pixel art is pretty nice

- The universe used is quite rare in video games which is a good thing to see

----

* Negative points

- The music is pretty annoying

- No feedback sounds

- The movement system is a birt weird, it seems that the character moves by "square", so at the beginning I thought that I was stuck, but I understood that I need to hit the input movement each time for moving

=> Overall gg for your work!

As I read you doesn't have time to add some objective to your game but for a first game jam this is already really good. And your game is beautiful <3

Hold on I'm sure you'll do even better next time! ;)

Developer

haha thanks a lot! :)

Hey! This games looks great and the music is good. Good job on making this game. I love the art but there is no objective ?   I hope you can expand this project and make something cool out of it. I also have a similar game about ants. If you have time I would appreciate a rating :)

Developer

Thanks for your feedback on the art and music ;) I'm currently working on a revised version to make it better!

Great idea man! I thought about ants for this jam too! Settled on rats instead :)

I really love the style of it, graphics remind me so much of the first legent of selda game. good times. The intended design is a bit unclear though, I had fun pushing ants but I am not sure where to go from there :)

Great work though!

Developer

Looking at it now it totally looks like the old Zelda games! thanks for the comment :

Congrats on your 1st jam! Ants working together for the theme is very appropriate. It's unfortunate that the game is unfinished, but at least you were able to learn from the experience, which is the most important thing.

The art and music are cute and fit the game well. Have you tried using trigger for the water to initiate the death sequence? A suggestion I would also like to suggest after reading your devlogs is to focus on the gameplay of the game first and foremost before the arts. For example, coding a win sequence and maybe just using Debug.Log to see if it's working before making an animation for it. This technique helps me finish my games quicker, but it's also just a personal thing so feel free to ignore it. What's really impressive is that you kept making detailed devlogs while working on the game itself. That's really difficult! Don't stress yourself out too much and focus on the best/core part of your game. Keep up the good work!

Hey thanks so much for your feedback! :)

I had tried using triggers and a delegate to create a death system but i couldn't get the player to return to a position T_T. The triggers worked fine but nothing else worked.

Looking back I agree a lot with what you say. I think next time I should focus more on the coding and getting mechanics in place before art. I mainly used the devlogs as a personal journal for the project, so i'm glad that you liked them!

I feel dumb I can't figure out how this game works lol! Maybe a tutorial would awesome at the beginning like a short text explaining it? I loved the art tho wow I wish I could draw like that! Nice work! Very awesome! The thumbnail art is just as cool too nice work!

Pretty neat game, I know its common for 2D games to use pixel art but this is probably one of my favorite styles

Developer

Very Cool game I like that the water does nothing to you XD but you did amazing for your first game and game jam I did a lot worse. I had the same Idea to make a game with ants but mine turned out with a bunch of bugs. Good Job!

Developer(+1)

Ha thanks! Cool that we both thought of ants, I've seen a couple others.
