A great musical experience with some platforming elements.

So I have to say the star of this game was the music. The platforming sections felt a little shoehorned in. I think you honestly could have gotten away with just doing more of the boss segments. The boss designs were awesome and character looked cool as well. Facing against demons to build a band is pretty metal lol The boss minigame was the best part and I think it should have received some more attention. There was no real fail state here which took away from the suspense of rocking the demon's faces off! The platforming areas were cool mainly for the fact of seeing more art, but this area still lacked focus. The music overall was awesome, especially the boss segments. Again, I think the focus could have been put 100% on the boss segments, and that would have allowed much more polish in this area instead of trying to do too much with it (but if you try to expand on the game, the platforming would be a good route to take)

The music playing was very ocarina of time-ish and I think a little more juice while playing could have been nice, such as some screen shake or crazy effects on screen and heavy feedback for the player to know they are rocking out!

Overall, I think this is one of those hidden gem situations that deserves more attention and polish from it's creator!

I really appreciate this in depth feedback! Also as the composer I’m stoked you like the music. I pretty much agree with you on everything you said. We all agreed that we could have maybe just axed the side scroller element, and if we’d had more time we’d try to up the stakes on the challenges. The boss segment is thanks to our rad artist @boisterousnatur - he nailed that transformation! Thanks so much for taking the time to play and rate our game!

No problem, I am happy to experience such a unique experience during a game jam lol

I loved this game! The art is great and the sound was phenomenal. Some things I did notice:

The blue drum monster uses bells in its song, the minor third undertone really clashes with the song so the instrument choice wasn't ideal for the music.

The jump felt a little bit high at times.

The game controls super well and the art was great. Well done!

It would be cool if you could check out my game and give it a rating: https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-5/rate/925013

Wow short game but really good one. I absolutely loved this game and the concept. The art was pretty good too. I love music games like these. Very good game I enjoyed a lot . I wish there was more to it :)

This is one of those jam games that got me seriously excited for what this could be. I loved the atmosphere, how boss fights are played out (although I would've loved more of a challenge) and that pink guitar 😍

This game is awesome! Loved the musical part, felt like Ocarina of Time to me. The demon designs are amazing as well, huge fan of them. A part of me wishes the musical segments were harder, maybe a higher pace or something would’ve been cool where you have to follow a specific rhythm as well. This game was short but sweet. Great job! :)

Art & Music are killer. I felt nostalgic with your team's take on replaying songs back like from Legend of Zelda games. Would love to see this expanded into longer platforming sections!
