You run around squawking to collect fruit and the more friends/followers you acquire the faster you can collect fruit!

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?

Your game was fantastic, the pixel art was superb, my friends loved it, the parrots personally watered my crops and now my family and my friends can eat again. Thank you, tonicwater, for this wonderful game.

Great game, I like the concept and the graphics are absolutely amazing! The parrots are super cute :) The hitboxes were bigger than I've expected but beside that fact very well done, I had fun playing your game :)

Really fun game! I loved the art style!

Press space to quack, and quack I did!

Cool game. At first I was thinking it's a bit too slow, but then I understood the concept of the game :D

The enemies hit me from quite a big distance, which was my only complaint with this game.

Well done!

Amazing art style! Good job :)

Very cute art style, fun to play as well! Would love to be able to do something about the fly that keeps following me, and it seems like it's hitbox is way too big. Cool concept!

Nice job with the graphics they are very nice, I had a lot of fun playing this one. Thank you!

I love the cute graphics and the audio, I didn't get if there is something I can do with the enemy.

Great audio/visuals, I like some good pixel art. Would be cool if the squawk affect was also pixelated. Is there anyway of getting rid of that enemy? It keeps sneaking up on me

Really liked the art style of the game! Some of the collisions seemed off like bumping into plants and having to leave and touch fruits again. Still, a really solid concept with a lot of potential if expanded upon!

Loved the pixel art and retro music on this one, right up my alley.  It took me a bit to figure out you have to hold spacebar down for a few seconds instead of tapping it, so maybe add that to the instructions?  Would also be great if you could defend  yourself or at least shoo away the annoying bugs instead of just running from them.

But overall it was really well made and a fun little game.  Nice job!

Really cool pixel art and animations! The idea is cute and fits well :)
We didnt get that you need to keep pressing the spacebar to quak at first and what the big black circle on the right was indicating haha.  Also it seems like the hitboxes are too large.

Anyway really cool project, we had fun!
All the best from the Wilma & Buddy Team

Love the art style and character design. It took me a few tries to realize that I had to hold down the space bar because the “sound wave” animation is delayed. Consider having the sound wave expand out from the bird immediately and then contract the sound wave when space bar is released. That might make the press-and-hold mechanic more obvious.

Otherwise it seems like either the player or enemy hit box is too large because I took damage a few times without visually touching the enemy.

Thanks for checking out my game on stream. Really appreciate it!

very cute and chill game. i think the hitbox of the squawk aoe is turning into a hitbox of the player? because i got killed by a bee or something when it was very far away, but it was touching my squawk ranging. enjoying your streams too btw :)

Developer

yeah this is exactly what is happening with the aoe/hitbox issues, I plan to fix it after rating stuff is done. I made last minute changes and the aoe accidently got tagged as "parrot" which means you will take damage if a fly passed into the squawk aoe :( . thanks for playing though!

I like this subtly sad mood. It's filled with doom and has a pinch of hope. For me it's about orphanhood in some indirect way. Like, why are all these children buried alive under the earth? How long have they been like that? If I just wander around and eat fruits alone, free and careless, would they stay buried forever?

I really don't know if it's intentional or not, but I don't care. If it's not, than for me it's a miracle of meaning, emerging from the game on it's own.

Level design is smart. Liked children, surrounded by unwalkable tiles and the one on the end point of patrolling fly pathway.

And now some boring nitpicking!

As others said something's really off with hitboxes.

And yes, the squawking sound is missing. It would be great if every rescued child would add a new voice to the choir.

Squawking visual effect looks alien. It would look better if it was in pixel art and without "add" rendering mode.

Flies is a strange choice for parrots' enemies, I think)

First I wanted some explicit ending, but than came to a thought that gathering together is already a satisfying conclusion and all those fireworks, flying confetti and "they lived happily ever after" would only steal something from it.

Nice game! Loved the artworks and palette for the game, the character designs were really nice! I liked how the little birds would sit on your head, was cute. The tutorial definitely should have said "Hold Space to squawk", because I kept on pressing Space and nothing was happening, so I wasnt sure what to do for a while. Also a squawking sound would have been really great! Also the hitboxes for the enemies were way too big. Overall good job though!

Great game. I missed a sound for squawking. The only problem i had was with the hit box. Sometimes i needed to walk away and back to grab fruits and the flying tinghy killed me when there was two trees between me and it.

I would really like if you rated my game too.
