In what way does your game fit the theme?
This game just gets more and more chaotic as time moves on. Challenge yourself to try and last as long as possible!

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
No, I used the Corgi Engine and wrote scripts where needed, and used free assets from the unity store.

It's good but some game progression would help a lot, the sound effects could also be polished a bit more and the music was a bit repetitive. I would really appreciate it if you could rate my game!

Nice game, but I not sure if I would play it for a long time. Some upgrades and some kind of progress would be nice. Otherwise good game and good job.

Developer

Thanks! I wanted to add power ups can stuff but ran out of time. I've mapped that stuff out for a potential second version.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

I think this is a really solid game! I like the 2.5D perspective and the general look of the game. The gameplay feels good and  I think it fits the theme well. Good job!

Developer

Thank you!!

I really like implementation of air attack) I think these mechanics would serve far better in a linear experience — arena overflows way too fast midgame and lack of abilities leaves player without much to do. The execution is good though

Thank you!!

It's a good start! For full disclosure, I ran this in a VM, which almost definitely affected the framerate, and likely also neutered the gamepad support (so I used keyboard). That's on me.

I enjoy mindless hack-and-slash games that give me a chance, so I like where this is going. It reminded me very vaguely of Golden Axe for some reason (maybe the music? maybe the axe? I have no idea why.)

Maybe I just suck, but I kept thinking the gameplay would change up if I just stayed alive a little longer. But I think the monsters just kept coming faster. I think I made it 80 seconds or so after a few tries. If you haven't tried out "Get Chopping!" yet (https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-6/rate/1176980), you might want to check that out. I think it's a good example of how to keep the game interesting through a variety of art, attacks, and other spoiler-territory stuff.

Other random thoughts:

Glad to see gamepad support - a lot of entries seem to be skipping it, but it adds so much to enjoyment when the mappings are in place.

At first I tried just jumping up  the stairs on the right of the map, but gave up when I realized the map wouldn't scroll further. For some reason I was expecting a wider map, but once I realized I was stuck, i just camped in the center of the map.

It didn't seem like it was necessary to jump to attack any of the baddies. Maybe some flying monsters, or power-ups, or something would have helped encourage jumping.

I wish there were a way to see the game's controls without quitting the game and re-launching it.

I'm not familiar with Corgi Engine's WebGL support, but in the future, if you have any option to export the game to WebGL, that'd be killer from a "security vs performance" perspective.

I see the bone counter has 3 digits (000) - but I was really slow at collecting bones. It made me wonder if cool dudes are collecting 100+ bones and I'm just playing wrong.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Lots of meaningful stuff here, and I definitely will check out "Get Chopping!"

Cool game, it teaches patience and makes the player focus on it. I really liked the art and the animations and the music and sfx were awesome. Great work !!!

Solid job. Graphics are great, 3d characters with animations is pretty good for a game jam and the death particle effects work well.
Audio is mixed. Music is good, fast pace helps contribute to the theme. But the priority of the music is too low. There are finite sound channels so when there are tons of enemies on the screen, their footsteps eventually override the music and it stops playing. Attack grunt is a little loud and cuts through everything else. I'd recommend either reduce volume or add a few different grunts to cycle though.
Game-play is simple but implemented pretty well. I like that attack still worked while running, it felt good to be able to kinda slide into things. I liked the different enemies as well. The main issue gameplay wise was that it seems like there's no cooldown for attacking so you can spam L to be almost perfectly safe. I was having a good time before L spamming though.

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback. Yeah, I've gotten the sound complaint a few times! Something to remember for next time!

Ended up surviving 127seconds and it sure got chaotic... Unique graphics that reminds me of monkey island. And I love the sound effects. Could have used more gameplay elements to it but overall well done!

Developer(+1)

WOW That's amazing!

Thank you for the feedback, since this was my first game I was focused on learning how to piece everything together, so I didn't have time to really think about more elements --- but absolutely noted!

Nice 2.5D game. Considered getting the Corgi engine when it was last on sale, seems like it has a lot of features for making platformer games.

Developer(+1)

Yes, Corgi engine is awesome!

Also I really dig your ljn style logo :)

Cool entry! The music fit nicely, the mowhawk skeleton was great, and it was reasonably fun to run around stomping things until everything falling down killed me!

Developer

Thank you for playing!

Really nice concept for a game, i found pretty quick i could just spam 'L' to do infinite damage and not take any damage, the music though is really cool! I was confused by using L to do damage, i didnt properly read the controls and just thought it would be left click so i was a little thrown by that but it's nothing major obviously :)

it would be nice if there was more to explore and different enemies around, great first game overall though, good job finishing it! :)

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback! I wanted to add more, but I'm still a n00b so this was all I could commit to (I sort of defined my scope before I started and wanted to commit to getting that as polished as possible).

Thank you for playing!

Fun game, great execution of the idea, but game becomes boring after 1-2 runs. Really cool graphics though. Great Job!

Developer

Thanks! I'm definitely going to be working on some updates and changes --- adding new systems, etc. To keep the game more fun

I appreciate you playing! Thank you for the feedback!
