In what way does your game fit the theme?
Charlie, the Mad Scientist and his grandson, Robbie wander through time and space together but 6 hours earlier Robbie has been captured by one of the most terrifying species in the multiverses so YOU as Charlie have a mission to manifest CHAOS by using your portal gun to summon your VARIANTS from different infinite parallel universe to distract enemies, shutdown prison's security and then break Robbie out so it's kinda 'Let's there be Chaos' vibes? I guess?

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
The code is 90% mine, 5% brackeys' and 5% for other good people on stackoverflow and github, so basic yeah. I wrote most of the code.

Anyways, the maps are totally made from Cainos' Pixel Art Top Down - Basic free pack but I tweak his asset for a bit to match my game styles. Check it out on Unity Asset Store btw, without him this game might look even worse than the way it is now.

This is my first time creating my own characters and animation from scratch but I ended up creating all of the characters' graphic and animation somehow and it looks kinda terrible but at least it works so yeah. If it work, it works!

Cool game, Rick and morty style. I like the menu style too. You have done a great job, and great tutorial too, it covers up how to play on the game. Noice work bro

Developer

Thanks! Glad you like the game!

Man, how fun I had playing your game! I just recommended it to some friends as well, all of us big Rick & Morty fans!

I didn't find any bugs or issues during the gameplay, and I'm glad I was able to test this game. I really enjoyed it!

had so much fun with my brother playing this game
and since i'm a big rick and morty fan the art and the vibe that the game has got me so excited

really loved it

Developer

Glad you like it! Especially Rick and Morty reference! When I told my friend that I need music from my game I was like "Bro, I need music for my game." and he said "Yeah, what kind of music do you want?" then I said "Rick and Morty theme song" and his reaction was like "wtf bro, anymore detail?" and I said "Rick and Morty theme song" and finally he said "fine". That's how the music was born. Big shout out for my friend.

Had an extreme amount of fun on this. My girlfriend sat on level 3 for 2 hours xD

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

The only question I have is did she manage to clear lv3 and get to lv4?  Cause the Pickle Chalie is definitely game changer! He's my favorite character! I would be suuuuuper such a shame if your gf or anyone couldn't meet him D:

Submitted(+1)

I will get her to try it again!

Developer(+1)

Also there' a  bug that you can crtl + c/ ctrl + v at the command typing tasks, just in case you stuck there.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

awesome that is what she git caught with as she's a slow typer lol

This was a lot of fun I enjoyed it and definitely plenty of chaos! Awesome work!

Developer

Thanks! Glad you like it!

The game is really cool, but I think that the hacking part could be a little less boring/repetitive, except the minigame that ou have to type the commands.

Great sound design, with sounds that fit the setting of the game and the post processing is also really great. The game is well polished, overall

Congratulations, good luck!

Developer

Well, few players complain about typing command task is suuuper hard. I leave a bug to make the task a bit easier for slow typer who may not enjoy typing in the situation but I guess I might adding like a Super-security-task-thing that should be harder to complete to spice it up a bit for an epic gamer like you, also glad you like it!

the gameplay is excellent,  nice tracks too

I fail in the level 3 but I will continue to try cause I love it

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

Trust me. The gameplay would be a little bit more fun when you get to the level 4 and unlock the Pickle Charlie. He's super powerful XD

Submitted(+1)

Great concept! I really liked the music and the graphics. I could definitely see the idea being expanded into a full game, but the number of levels in this gamejam entry is already pretty amazing

Developer

Well, I think it's a bit too much because I haven't participate in any game jam before so I don't know that the game should be fun and interesting right at the beginning. My game design would seem kinda boring if you haven't reach lv4 and unlock the Pickle and play until last lv to get Robbie out, so that's a lesson for me my next game jam should be better hopefully :D

Submitted(+1)

A great entry overall!

We had a lot of fun playing your game! The art looks pretty cool and the idea was very innovative too. One minor problem is that the variants tend to get stuck and bodyblock each other, with that said it´s still a great game. we loved the main menu and the post processing!

Developer(+1)

Glad you love it! I put a really big amount of effort to this game! Actually the body block problem occur mostly because of my terrible map design, as you can see if the hallway was just big enough this problem would occur, despite that I don't have much time remaking all of them. So, Sorry for bringing playing experience a little bit down. I would love to fix that in the next update if I have a chance :D.

Submitted(+1)

We would love to see the update! Gonna give you are follow!

Submitted(+1)

Really like this Sci-Fi game and the idea. Great game :)

Submitted(+1)

i really like the colors the artist use in this art style! interesting game :)

Submitted(+1)

Nice Art and UI! Good job!

Submitted(+1)

The combat using the variants was very nice. I wasn't a fan of the typing terminals, but that's mainly because I'm a slow typer haha.

It was super solid. Nice work.

Developer (1 edit)

Well, I got you bro. You can actually ctrl+c/ ctrl+v the code in terminal to skip it :D.

These are the speedrun techs we need.

One of the best games of this jam. It's an interesting mix of genres, something unique compared to most of the games out there.

Though I have to say the hardest thing in this game was the tutorial, it was slow (because there was a lot to read) and didn't contain any extremely necessary information you couldn't explain at a first, simpler level.

The sounds were a bit annoying too, once you had a lot of NPCs on the screen, you were hearing way too many sounds. Some UI sounds were super high pitched which is didn't feel nice either.

Overall a good game, would like to see it getting some updates!

Developer (1 edit)

Well, the tutorial and the sound effects(which is from sfxr) are probably top of the list of 'I didn't have time for this so I just slap something I think it's necessary in and boom move on' things. Sorry, for that. Maybe if I have a chance I would give it some update though :D. Thanks for your honest review. It helps me improving my skill a lot!

p.s. I think maybe some people might not like the music or sound effect so I slap some mute button in the game, man. That's a good decision.

Submitted(+1)

I know about the possibility to turn off SFX sounds but you need to know when you are getting hit which would also get muted.

Overall, I would recommend trying to think of a way to lower the number of people on the screen. This way the could get more challenging and maybe it could also work on WebGL.

Developer (1 edit)

Well, the WebGL is something that I never know it is this necessary until now. Thanks for good advices!

Submitted(+1)

Interesting concept. Couldn't get the "type the command" puzzle to work. The text displayed (confusing to someone who grew up with DOS) and lack of feedback when it wasn't right... well maybe I'm just tired :/. I like how the portal gun spawned Mortys that then do the attacking for you.

Developer

Well, at first I try to make it tell you where exactly the typo is ,however I can't get it working  but I think it's give summary of programming in real life cause you don't know where's the bug so I keep the bug as a feature :D.

Submitted(+1)

5 stars to you dude amazing game did you used post processing?btw Could you play my game too?  would be appreciated.

Developer(+1)

Yeah man, it's post processing. I try to use Post Processing asset pack but it doesn't work for some reason so I try out URP's build-in post processing plug-in and boom it's working.

also I would definitely try your game!

Submitted(+1)

lol i couldnt work out post processing on urp wasted hours. good job and thanks for checking my game

Submitted(+1)

I love the visible inpiration by Rick & Morty <3 I love it, good game.
