Loved the mechanics. The sound effectects was really creepy thos :')

Developer

Hi Kyofa ! Thanks for playing ! We have noted sounds effects were too loud even it was a goal to give tension :')

This game is very interesting, I like its mechanics and especially the art. The game can get very tense when the dogs start chasing after the child and making that horrifying noise. I think others mentioned this, but sometimes I would walk into something not knowing its a door and I was stuck for quite a while until I realized it was a door. Overall, the graphics and lighting are stunning and its a very cool game.

Developer

Hi agtechno101,

Thanks a lot for playing our game and giving us your feedback ! (^w^)/ I'm glad you liked it !
Yeah, some feedbacks mentionned about the doors not being visible. We took into consideration the feedback and we will bright up the handle (or something else that will do the trick) in the post-jam version ! (°w°)b

Like many others have said, great game! It was cool to see the dynamics between the father and son (how the son can't jump as high as the father) and how it adds a different layer to the platforming. I also thought the light mechanic was a neat idea as well.

The usage of color was pretty interesting as well. Blue background, red platforms, solid, gray ground. But despite the tutorial, I did have slight trouble recognizing when there was a door in front of me and I think it's due to the way color is presented in the game. Since closed doors are shown to be gray, my first thought is that it's a solid wall. It also took me a while to notice that door handles turn green when they become interactable. Maybe this could be fixed by making the color a slightly brighter green (one that's not too bright to fit with the overall dark colors of the game)?

I also enjoyed how dogs were introduced into the game: friendly at first, then hostile the moment the light stops shining on them. It implicitly shows how the light mechanics work without text. It would be cool to have interactable friendly dogs where if you have the light shining on them, press the interact button when you're close (probably a "pet the dog" action), then the dog stays friendly. It could possibly be a way to communicate that the son has "conquered" his fear of this particular dog.

I was definitely not expecting the ending and I could see this game being further developed. Great job!

Hi CharlesAdvincula !

Thank you so much for this wholesome in depth feedback ! (>w<)/
I don't think we actually thought that much in depth about the colors displayed in the game haha (or me atleast :sweating_bullets:). That might be good to bright up a bit the green color of door's handle, I agree !

Also that's a really nice idea you have there about petting dogs to conquer them :D ! We will take into consideration and see if we can implement that in our post-jam version !

Thanks again a lot for all your feedback and glad to hear you liked our game ! (°w°)b

Very interesting concept and game mechanics. I like the artstyle and the environment of the game. The flashlight mechanic is really smart and having to care for another character adds another fun challenge to the game. The dog sfx can be a bit better in my opinion, but other than that its a really good game! Great work!

Developer

Hi Team Sparrow !
Thanks a lot for your comment. We are glad to see that you like the gameplay  :D

Very wholesome game! Love the concept too.

Personally I felt like it would be more fun if the level was shorter.

I did encounter some problems like getting stuck in a room with a one-way door after respawning there and I think I saw the ending already but after that I could still walk until I fell off a cliff and I just kept respawning and falling over and over again.

Overall great game! ^^b

Developer

Thank you for you feedback Plapipus !

The level is divided in 8 section and it's to develop the game faster that we decided to put them together ! But it could be a great idea to change the rythm of the game too :D !

Sorry for the softlock bug and thank you for having the motivation to finish our game ! (The climb at the end is also a bug, it's not the suicide of the kid lol)

Good game, in my opinion, the section at the beginning (before you will meet the first dog) is too slow, but it's such a tiny inconvenience it doesn't matter in the end. Also, next time try to compile the WebGL version of the game as people are more likely to play these.

Developer

Hi Hrober,

There were supposed to be 1 or 2 other features introduced at the beginning before the dog but we didn't have time to implement them. So it ended up a bit long I guess. Sorry about that ! (u_u)

Also about WebGL version, we used some Post-Processing effects and if i remember right, WebGL doesn't support Post-Processing effects, or it requires some configurations maybe. I will have to look into it :)

Thanks for your feedback ! (>w<)b

Submitted(+2)

My game uses post-processing effects too (very basic ones but still), and it works just fine on WebGL. My recommendations:

- Make sure you use URP.

- Compile the game only for WebGL 2.0, ignore the WebGL 1.0 as it is problematic.

Good looking and very nice mechanics! Dogs SFX are a little annoying at times, but great job overall.

Developer

Hi VladBotezatu,

Thanks a lot for your feedback :D
And yea, we didn't had time to balance all SFX, sorry about that !

The game was really great! I really love your art style, amazing work!

I just rated your game, maybe you can do the same on mine ^_^

Developer

Very nice interaction of the light with the dogs.  It introduces a new component to a traditional platformer.

Developer

Hi unmagical_magician, happy to hear you liked the feature ! :D

We also loved your really soothing puzzle game ! (°w°)/

Thanks for your feedback !

i enjoyed the game, but the dogs were way too loud :/ at some point, there were a bunch of dogs offscreen and they all screamed at me and i just didnt know what to do, as i couldnt even shine my light at them to calm them down.

im not sure if i got to the end because i got pretty much softlocked in a deathtrap with a one way door on one side, and a wall with a dog on the other side. no matter what i did, i couldnt figure out the puzzle :/

gotta give props to great visuals and an interesting game concept tho :)

thank you for participating in the jam and making this

Developer

Thank you for your feedback ! Unfortunately, we saw the softlocked bug after the submission it was not a part of a enigma. It's not the end of the history :'( . We will correct the bug for a version post-jam. But thanks a lot for playing our game !

This game is quite fun to play!  I loved the mechanic with father and son and I will definitely recommend it to others, although the sounds of the dogs were a bit buggy ^^' and resulted in some high pitched noises, that really hurt my ears! But in the end it is a VERY good game that I enjoyed a lot nevertheless!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot to play our game ! Sounds of dogs have afraided some people, you are not alone. We will reduce sounds :'D.

Developer(+1)

Hi Wildfreund, thanks a lot for playing our game !

Glad to hear that you liked it ! (°w°)b .

About the sound of the dogs, we were running a bit out of time so I didn't manage to balance properly the volume of every sounds.
Sorry for killing your ears ! haha (u_u ") (and you are not alone)

Submitted(+1)

No Problem ^^ I still loved playing it! My ears will recover for sure ;)

The game idea is really good! The art in the game is amazing!

Amazing art.

Cool graphics !

Overall a nice game! Has good atmosphere and nice graphics. Got stuck at a certain point in the level, but when I found out what the lights purpose was, it got easier!

I think this would be a pretty solid experience with a little more finess in the level  design, but maybe I got stuck befor the magic happened.

Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing ! Our artists will be happy to read your comment :D. We will keep in mind what  you said to improve the level design for a version post-jam !

Submitted(+2)

Great Game Concept

At the beginning I didn't understand what the purpose of light was.

And then, I was really surprised when I noticed that the friendly dog could be changed to such a cruel monster!

I stuck at some point but maybe I'll waiting for this :)

Developer(+1)

Hey HDNua ! Thank you for playing ! :D

Happy to hear that you enjoyed the game !

The point where you got stuck is actually a bug, sorry for that (owo"), we didn't see it coming before the deadline submission (we were in a rush haha)

We will fix it in a post version !
