My favorite part was by far exploring the world beyond the doodle jump part :) Very creative

I watched you vlog and I felt I just got to test your game. And it was Awesome! Thank You for this. Once I was thinking I got stuck but then I realised I can fly. =D

The game that shows up for me doesn't seem like the game in the photos nor what other commenters are describing.  After pressing "start" on a white intro screen, the game starts for me with a black screen and dark-gray descending platforms that I can jump around on.  The black screen and gray platforms continue for a few minutes until, for an unknown reason, the screen fades to white, a clock descends from the upper-left corner to the center, and the game resets.  The clock seems to be in the upper left corner the whole time (though black numbers on a black background), because when my character moves into that area, I can see it silhouetted against the white clothes.  There also seems to be an occasional message at the top of the screen, because I see letters silhouetted over my character at times if I jump to the top.  But other than that, I can only jump around on platforms in darkness until it ends.

A picture's worth a thousand words -- sorry for the thousand words :).  Here's how it looks for me.  Seems like it isn't an issue for most players.  Hope this is helpful feedback!

Developer

Oh daaang that sounds like a huge (and very mysterious) bug. Very weird. I'll definitely try to figure that one out! Thank you for letting me know! Yeah after clicking start, the screen is suppose to have a white background, and you jump around on platforms.

Maybe the bug is because I used WebGL3...

Update: I was playing it in Firefox when I had the black screen issue; when I switched to Safari it worked great -- and it's a great game!  I loved the artwork and your colliders on complex surfaces functioned very smoothly.  It was a fun game to explore -- nice work!  (In case it's helpful for debugging, I've played dozens of in-browser games from this jam in Firefox with no problems.  There was one game where a functionality in the game didn't work for me, but I just now went back and tested with Safari and it didn't fix that issue, so unrelated).

Hey!

This was a really great game! I love the visuals, they are simple yet very effective. The music is so calming and relaxing, I love it. The gameplay is very polished and the funny little easter eggs are well welcomed, ha-ha.

Great job, you did very well!

Ok, at first it looks really simple and boring. But after you find the secrets it just gets way better! The art is really cool looking, the music is really relaxing and awesome. Its just hard to find those secrets. But for your first game this is really awesome! Good job on finishing it! :)

Developer

Woohoo thank you so much!! Yay for finishing haha, and I’m so happy you found the secrets 🤍🤍 Yeah, retrospect I agree, the secret is a bit too hard to find haha

Submitted(+1)

I needed a long time to find all the secret but once you find them it's just epic!!! I played this game for way to long but I don't feel bad about it because it was very fun! This is game is so well made! And the art style and the sounds work so well together with this game! I really liked it!

Developer

Omg thank you so much!! 🤍🤍 That means a ton, wow thank you for play for so long 😭🤍 I’m so grateful for people like you

I really liked the art, and also the gameplay! I also love that when you lose, there is no death animation or anything. The timer just resets. This (in my opinion) gives the game a more polished and smooth feeling.

Great job.

EDIT: NEVERMIND this is actually a 10/10. The hidden world and the secret ending? That's amazing! I'm giving everything 5 stars now, this deserves to win.

Developer

Yay you found it!!! Wow thank you so much that’s such a huge compliment 🤍🤍🤍

I have a feeling that  too few people found the real game for the game to rank very high, but that’s okay, I’m just super happy a handful of you awesome people played it 🤍

Love the art and was fun seeing where this game would go! I think you might like what I made too - would love to hear your thoughts!

Nice little one! I really like the handdrawn artstyle, movement and the comments when failing haha. Probably some different platformes could be a really cool addon!

Submitted

Loved the art style and the catch. I was enjoying the relaxing atmosphere from the unreal game and the music as well.

Loved the assets, specially the character with its hand drawn pencil design and oriental design. Somehow the platforms decreased velocity until they suddenly stopped for some reason, and to reactivate them I needed to go to a lower platform, didn't understand how that worked. When I reached the 2-minute mark, the game ended and loaded me to the main menu again. Would have loved to use the WASD keys to move also.

I gave a solid 5/5. This game reminds me of some flash games I used to play when I was a little kid, the design coupled with the music probably achieves this effect.

The twist was unexpected and I had fun exploring. Played a few times before reading the comments and seeing the way to find the "true ending" I guess I could say.

Amazing job, please make more games and have fun jamming!! ^^

Wow thank you thank you!! That means so much.  🤍 I'm so jazzed that people like you were able to find my game 🤍

Really like the simple art style. The game is pretty fun too. Nice job

Great game, after finding the dark and totally not a cult room and lighting the totally not a cult fire I can say that I really liked this game. The main platforming aspect of it is great fun to relax, while the out-of-bounds secrets are also very interesting. Thank you for making this game, I will now go theorize about the game.

Developer

Omg yay!!! I'm so happy you completed it. I suspect that the majority of players will never realize there's something more, so I feel super super happy that at least one person did 🤍🤍 Thank you very much for taking the time to really play this game!

(+2)

No problem, I was going to rate it but then saw the darkroom in one of the photos which caused me to start exploring, I was hugging a wall to see if its some weird clipping situation (backrooms style) but then I noticed the wall cuts off at a point so I went to explore and ended up finding this. I think I ended up finding all the rooms there were.

Besides the secret room stuff, the game itself has great art, and your music choice was fitting and also just good music. So yeah, great game overall, I think it definitely deserves to be in the top 50 AT LEAST. Definitely one of the gems of the game jam, as I found it with the randomizer. (lucky I did :) )

Developer

Wow, that means a lot 🤍🤍🤍  Thanks a ton, you're a real homie

Np, just really liked the game!

I was expecting some kind of high speed platform jumping game. Instead I got to play short, casual and relaxing game. The art and the music are perfect for this game. Congratulation on completing your first game.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you! Haha, yeah like low stakes, major easter egg

Submitted

Nice simple and short game, i expected a little more for ending but maybe its not real? :) Nice job

Developer

Thanks for playing! And just curious, did you get all the way to the dark?

Submitted

The dark? As i can remmember i survivied 3 minutes and after that the game displayed me a main menu

Developer

Ah I see. Well, if you're interested, the "real" game is still in there to be found I think. You can try to get out of the platformer game to find it. The ending is a black screen with a pretty circle and a colorful fire thing. Lmk if you want any more info!

Submitted

I am attempting to find this, i jumped to the left and right corner of scene but i couldn't find ending yet. All i found is ... a black meteor?

Submitted(+1)

ok - i found it :)

Developer(+1)

🤍🤍  Woohoo!! Wow thank you so much for continuing to play 🤍🤍

Submitted

The simple graphics were fun. I wish it have some juiciness to it. I don't think I should have had to made it to the top platform for it to continue scrolling up.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

The platforms are suppose to transition through random speeds (including 0), but maybe you found a bug 🐛 The code's full of 'em haha. Also, yes and yes to the juiciness. I would've loved to make the dark place larger and use the colorful fires in more places.

Submitted

This was a really fun game and it was easy to understand how to play too! I really liked the music! Great job for your first completed game though!! :)

Developer

Thank you so much!

I'm definitely worried about the real game being too hard to find and understand, but I hope people got it!
