How does you game fit the theme?
The dream is not the real world. You are living both in between the dream state and the normal state.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
We wrote all the code ourselfs except a dialogue framework. all the art assets are ours and other than sourced tilemaps and a few enemies are sourced from asset packs aswell.

I saw the cover image and I can already say the art direction is amazing! I was expecting a short game but it's longer than I thought and wow... this work in a week this it's so insane :o bravo !

(I had a little problem when I woke up and I choose to eat the bunny thing, nothing appened, so I started again and chose the other one to continue the game)

I reached the end yeaah ! I was clicking like a crazy ahaha maybe too much because I missed the first dialogue after the battle. Maybe a death animation can help to visually understand it's over, then a couple second after the dialogue can start.

So it was really fun to play ! Everything fit really well with the univers, the music is so cool by the way. I don't know if the "blurry" effect on some objects are intentionnel but anyway it can fit into the theme. Good work ;)

Developer

Wah, I haven't looked at this page in awhile! Thanks for the kind words!

Also it's been like 6 month's, but I still think about Granny's Cellar once in awhile! Loved it! It was probably my favorite game of the jam.

Man this game is super ambitious! Very impressed with the scope for only having a week. Also as expected, the music is excellent :)

Developer

Thank you! We tried to keep the scope limited for the jam and we still went a little overboard and that caused us to not get a lot of testing before releasing but we tried our best =)

The art, animations and sounds of this game are amazing! I really enjoyed them and playing it :)

I would consider improving the UI since it is a bit hard to read the text above the items, and the combat system since it is not very easy to predict the enemies' attacks.

Overall, great job! :)

Please consider checking our game, rating and also give feedback!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, We plan on releasing an update to the game on 3/14/2022 after the review process we have a lot of good changes and fixes upcoming I hope you get a chance to play again after the update =)

It's not real that this was made in a week! Props to the team, you'll did a crazy amazing job in such a short time. The visuals, the sound effects,  the music, are all great! Congrats on the solid submission 馃帀馃帀

Developer(+2)

Thank you for your comment! It was a hard week getting the game made in time we managed to do it granted its not perfect by any means. The team and I are proud of our creation though =)

this is a prety incane game, have you made this in just 7days?

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your comment! Yep we made it in 7 days it was a feat!

Very cool game! The environment was quite a bit bigger than I expected so I had a lot of fun exploring. The delay between attacks seemed a little bit longer than I would have liked but I was able to adjust after some playing. The soundtrack is amazing(crazy you were able to make so many full songs in just a few days) and the pixel art is very endearing, especially the facial expressions of the main character. I would have liked to see Biscuit in the same pixel art style as well, as the difference in pixel sizes/lack of a dark border makes him/her seem a bit out of place. The food crunching sound was a little too far on the loud side (I turned volume down a good bit before playing and it was still quite loud). I would have liked to have access to the volume settings while playing. My last critique is that I think food is almost too plentiful. I was constantly full inventory after around the start of the 2nd level and finished the game with only having fully eaten my apples and a few bananas. Overall though it was a pleasant experience and I really jived with the story and aesthetic of the game. Well done! Please rate ours as well if you have the chance :)

Developer

Really appreciate you playing and I'm so excited you enjoyed the soundtrack! 馃檹 Thank you so much!

Developer

Awww! I'm so happy you enjoyed the pixel art!! I wasn't too sure about Blue's facial expressions, but I'm glad you felt the emotion^^

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed the game after the review process we plan on improving and fixing a lot of the iasues and concerns that have been brought up. We want to have a game that is enjoyable and as bug free as we can have =) we will address the chewing sound and the attack speed as well as try to balace the loot and food items for the levels to make it fair but not too plentiful hopefully or maybe increase the difficulty slightly to have the need to use more food.

Amazing game that reminds me of older Zelda games. Only halfway-ish through from what I reckon, but the combat is fun once you understand the enemy telegraphs. Hoping to see this continue to develop and possibly add additional weapons or abilities.

Developer

Thank you so much! I hope we can continue to develop/playtest this game too!!

I love this topdown game! The audio is really good, it'd be really cool if there's a different eating sound for every food, and my inventory is always full, so when I find treasures I can't open it, there's no way to clear it other than getting hit by enemies on purpose and then consuming them. All the enemies (including the boss) in this game are well designed, it was fun discovering ways to figure out how to take them out. You guys created a fantastic game, well done!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I'll look into more sfx sounds for eating based on the foods. Thank you for playing glad you enjoyed the game!

I loved the art and the music in this game! The timeout on swinging was a little long, it would've been nice if it was a little shorter, or it was communicated visually when it reset. But overall, beautiful game, great work!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I'll work with the team and see about refining the attack speed when we work on polishing the game after the review process

Beautiful game! Loved the art and music. It gave me real Secret of Mana vibes, and I loved that game. The "it was all a dream" part definitely made it fit the theme. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for your comment! Glad you enjoyed the aesthetics and vibe!

A lot of bugs in this game (not spiders) in the game, but the story itself is great, it's the same as copyright infringement on the idea, original characters, and story elements that you love and care, the art are great as well. Great, great job.

Some issue is that when you click at the credits, you get softlock; sometimes you didn't get the items from the chest even if you have spaces; also not a bug, but the foods are a bit too powerful (starting with muffin).

Developer

Yes, Sadly we had a lot more bugs than we expected it wad a rush for us to release on time after the review process we plan on going back and trying to squash as many bugs as we can find and improve the game further. I hope then you will give it another shot at that point.

Submitted

I will give it another shot, rushing is accepted when it comes to minor bugs. Hope you can fix some.

I like the game, but there are issues with the collision though, and the music is great and cute, great job!

Developer

Thank you for feedback, We will try to tackle those issues after the review process hopefully you get a chance to play it again after we release an updated version =)

I loved t he vibe and everything in the game was matching. FOr me, nothing felt out of place. I loved the concept art and the BGM. It was fun to fight enemies and try to dodge. It was nice to collect food to eat and keep fighting.

Thank you for your submission. It's really high quality material. I hope you get to have chance to write your thoughts about my game. I'd like to hear developers of this game's thoughts.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Glad you enjoyed your experience. When I get a chance I will check out your game as well =)
