Knightmare is a roguelite dungeon crawler following the story of a young child who's learning to cope with nightmares. Play as ghostly knights, either as a single player or cooperatively with a friend, and help the child make it back to his bed before he gets overcome with fear.

The child isn't alone and the player isn't alone. 😉

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
We used A* Pathfinding Project Pro from the Unity Asset Store.

Apart from that, we made everything 100% from scratch in 7 days.

Cool and smart idea, really nice! I will try this with a friend too.

I love the arts and sounds in this game. It's also unusual to see isometric game here.

There was few bugs which are a bit annoying. If you will click "E" multiple times, the knight will become invisible until you possess the child again. Enemies often get stuck on the corners. Also it is annoying that enemies will still attack in their death animations.

All the other stuff is great and I really enjoyed playing your game :)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, we were really bummed we didn't allocate enough time for playtesting. 😞 We also noticed all the things you pointed out after we had submitted the game.

This game loop is so nice and buttoned up. The title, pause menu, store ui etc are all so nice and complete. I love the concept. It's really creative and after a few rounds switching between the kid/knight and possessed mode feel natural and fluid. I had a bunch of exciting moments with enemies, barely saving the kid in time, or just missing by a second and experiencing death. Overall really nice job guys!

Thanks for the feedback! 🙌 I'm glad you had those awesome moments, in-game. We were hoping to create those "last-minute-save" feelings.

If you play long enough to upgrade your skills, you'll see that the game can play pretty differently as you progress. It also plays very differently if you are playing cooperatively with a friend.  With an extra player, you can split up more and the camera will zoom out to accommodate all three characters, allowing you to see more of the map to find the bed quicker. In single player mode, if you max out all the skills, you can keep the kid in the center of the map, and run to a corner of the map to achieve the same effect. It gets pretty exciting because if the enemy wave starts while you're away, you have to race back to the kid while he tanks a bunch of hits to save him last minute.

I made this same mistake on my game, people will be sent to the jam version of your game's page which hides any descriptions. I happened to go to your jam page by mistake and that's how I learned the controls but for most they will just have to figure that out. Also, without reading the game's description my goal would have been confusing.

Not entirely sure what happened after the timer ran out other than a bunch of shadow monsters coming for me. Assuming I was meant to beat them, it would have been nice to be able to hit more than one at a time; if I could hit multiple at a time then the attack hit-box may have just been small, not sure.

The sword sounds felt a bit weird sounding the same regardless of whether you missed; this was more of a problem when there were a lot of enemies and I'm not sure if I hit one or not.

The art was fantastic. The ambient sounds were nice. The controls made sense.

Overall, a nice jam entry.

Thanks for the feedback! 🙌

If you press (Q) you can use an AOE super power which helps for hitting multiple enemies at once. We originally wanted to add a controls/objective modal in-game but ran out of time and decided to add it to the game page description. The timer just makes every enemy in the level pathfind toward the kid.

Liked the art style. I thought the gameplay could be more fleshed out but that was all, had a nice time playing it! Good job! Could you be so kind to try my game. It gives you the perfect challenge: try not to rage! Try it now! Anybody who finishes level 3 gets a prize! (trust me, you wont finish it) Or are you too scared to accept the challenge??
