Really neat story! Can't really give a high score on theme but I very much enjoyed the story.

Solid writing and fun to read through on stream!

Solid game, good work. Not on theme but w/e, you made what you wanted to show us and I think it was amazing. Artwork is AAA quality, if you really wanted to make this into a commercial game I think it would need work on the text/voice overs side, a strong animation system for the text itself and a prettier font. Also, a stronger game play loop with progression systems rather than strictly story based. This could be on Steam in 6 months.

Yeah - the horror aspect of this was meant to be the ending realization plus a lot of glitching throughout the game, but a bunch of that ended up nonfunctional due to a lack of time, so the horror is entirely in the story itself and the inevitable knowledge that you and everyone you know and love is going to die slowly and horribly because the people who imprisoned you abandoned you to the mercy of the ocean and there’s nothing you can do about it. I really would’ve liked to get more of the glitches working though, that would’ve been good. We definitely intend to revamp a lot of the game after the jam is over and make it stronger.

Wow, that was really cool! I was pretty impressed with how well it all came together. Though I recognized at least one track as a royalty free piece I'd heard before, it didn't really take me out of it because it actually fit the situation well. I enjoyed the story and the characters. My one issue was the "chase" sequence at the end. I hadn't saved right before it, and it felt like trial and error. Other than that, it was really fun! Good job!!

Developer(+1)

LORD the chase scene was the bane of our existence - it was meant to be timed, so you had to keep picking in five seconds or you’d game over, but we could not for the life of us get that functionality to work so we took it out and I think it got really messy because of it and ended up taking away from the game rather than adding to it. Thank you for playing, and I’m glad you enjoyed it!

Man, I hear that :) I've looked at the tutorial for renpy before and it seems kind of complicated since you just have to...I don't know, trial and error it? There's not really a UI, or whatever, where you can drag and drop art assets and stuff, if it's still how I remember it.

Like I say, I really enjoyed it. It might be my favorite game I've played all jam; I'm such a sucker for puzzles and characters

Developer(+1)

Yeah, Renpy just gives you a code box and goes “have fun!” and lets you figure it out with the site documentation. You pretty much just have to sort of wing it. And wow - that’s a very high compliment, thank you so much!

im not a fan of this type of game so i didnt play it much, but the art is beatiful and the story seams pretty good (even tho the love part went right over my gay head) its still written ver well and people that like this kind of game will most likely enjoy it a lot. well done!
