That was incredible. I actually managed to beat it, too! It was VERY difficult, but I appreciated that mostly the level/checkpoint placement was forgiving enough that I was able to get through it by being careful and remembering the map and enemy placement after deaths. The one exception was the second level. I think I might have done this incorrectly, but I started with under half sanity and it was BRUTAL. I nearly gave up. I'm so glad I didn't!
I loved that you controlled two characters, I love that they had individual dialogue, the crossbow and finding more arrows was really neat, and I love the synergy of horror that you had going on. The shadow monsters and stuff were really spooky, and I definitely remained tense all the way through. It also had my favorite horror thing, though, which is a bright spot of hope. I thought it was kinda cute that you as the fairy could kind of "protect" Sophia from seeing things that would scare her by being careful with your light placement.
Very challenging, very scary, very cool idea, really well executed. If you make a full game of this (which I hope you do), please release it; I will absolutely buy it.
GREAT JOB!!!
Definitely a horror game; my heart was racing! The concept is very cool, and the graphics are very consistent with the style! I'm not very good at the game myself, but I can understand the entertainment it will bring others! : D
Not sure I like that your firefly companion has wall collision, but that's just me; it worked well here.
Awesome work!
An absolute gem of a game, and definitely worth expanding upon post-jam!
You guys seriously deserve praise for making this in a single week and will keep an eye out for future releases!
Solid game, great work! I wish you would have disabled the cursor in the game window if you are using it to move the light, seeing the light and then a cursor over top of it sucks. I kept running into things in the dark, maybe I should move my light forward more but it hurts my brain to move too characters at once.
Really spooked me there. Great game.
Very scary thanks to the jumpscares. Good game, sound effect and ambient effects, seems polished!
I didn't like that I could sometimes get jumped by an enemy and immediately die, since you don't always see them. Other than that, great!
Oh THIS is COOL. I really liked the premise, the mechanics, the horror aspect of you learning to rely on the goddess statues and suddenly they can be destroyed, the progressively worsening shake and fear as the girl’s sanity drains, the illusory monsters, the NON-illusory monsters, the sound. This rules.
This is probably the most polished game of all submissions. Rock solid concept, well themed, great visuals, nicely embedded tutorial, challenging but not unfair... if you elaborated on the mechanics and spruced up the environment, this could very well be a sellable game. Can't do more in one week - I'm a bit envious :)
I'm really liking this game but the lack of screen resolution options is giving me a hard time.
Theme: Very good mood and sound design, got me scared a couple of times
Fun: Very much enjoyed it, the game mechanics are tight and clearly explained. Last level was a bit difficult, but I beat it and it felt good.
Game Design: Really cool art style, great mechanics, a little bit unbalanced, but a great experience overall
ok ima go after the rating system, firstly the game is kinda scary, its lacking that punch in the face kinda scary but it has a really nice abiance scaryness, now its really fun, the shootimg mechanic, especially the ammo part is really cool. now game design wise there is one thing im gonna have to say, the mouse light being a physical object and not going through walls killed me very many times, its not very intuitive and i forgot about it all the time, also being insta killed kinda sucks but its fair. all in all very good game, well done!
Glad you liked it! The design choice to make the light a physical object was to stop people from doing a quick scan across the wall to get information easily, which was pointed out in early testing. Nonetheless, I should have add some tips about the fairy not being able to phase through walls but alas, time constraints :P
