Reasons I play this game:
- 10% I'm terrible at it, but I wanna (at least) defeat the first big plane.
- 90% To listen to the "eat my dust" sound effect at the beginning.

Jokes aside, great job! :D
I loved that the thematic "contrail" element serves both as an attach mechanics and graphic element to highlight player movement. You create a complete (and fun!) gameplay with just two commands, and that's incredible!

Great job, though from watching some of your streaming, the webgl version doesn't show off the nice graphics you custom built.  I really like the feel of the game and its concept which I'm going to call "reverse 1942".  (I love 1942 style games) And like everyone else mentioned, the sound effects and music really add to the game.

I do wish the win scene was a little longer so I could really enjoy the boss blowing up.

It was fun! Sorry that the intro music didn’t continue during the game.

That was plan A! I only had the small guitar loop, so I thought it would be grating without changing the drums up. I wanted to get around to it, but it just didn't happen. This was my first time working with sound, and not I have a much better idea of what's needed! Thanks for playing!

Very quirky! I'm still not entirely sure I won, but I had fun nonetheless. Also, the homing enemies being named Homers had me chuckling every time I read it. :)

Heh yeah, the only difference is the song that plays at the end. I had plans but...ya know :)

Sound effects were absolutely phenomenal! The game was a lot fun. I thought the intro was really cool and neat... but on repeat attempts it kinda started to grind my gears. Great game tho otherwise.

No I wont! Oh wait, you mean them! lol Funny sound effect and neat idea. I kept zigzagging in short burst thinking  I would deal loads of damage to the boss or enemy with health bar but it seems the hit radius wasn't registering it. I did try going wider and that seem to work but some left over homers still go me though they have past me...don't know how to handle those :P

Developer

Heh yeah, I did tweak it later so that they explode sooner. The lingering enemies was actually a bug that slipped in near the end because of how I added the audio. Probably would have been easy to fix, but...here we are!

the concept is interesting, at the beginning the game is easy, but when the big ship arrives the game gets interesting, that the only way to survive in the end is to make the big ship collide with the asteroids and the game warns you so you can respond is very good.

Sound effects made me laugh. Awesome idea and execution! The only thing that bothered me is no rotation at steering but i know, i know it is a design choice. One of the best games i played so far in this jam

Jam games that use lots of mouth sounds? Excellent.

It took me a few runs to figure out that the asteroids also pushed back the big ship. But once I figured out the timing, it felt pretty great to "trick" the enemy into eating big ol rocks. Very satisfying. Well done on that!

I understand the need to bound the game, but I think those bounds could have been visualized more clearly to the player. Either have some sort of  art change (darker clouds, ground, etc) or just lock the camera vertical movement so the movement bounds match the camera. You might also be able to use a wrapping quad to make the move space infinite vertically and then make ship spawn relative to player position to allow "infinite" up or down scrolling.

I might also make the big ship appear more quickly. On the first run, it's a cool little build up with the dialogue, but on subsequent runs it just seems to slow things down.

Overall, cool game. I had fun with it and was pleased by the little guitar riff for my eventual victory. Extra points for making a top down flying game that doesn't use shooting to win! Keep up the good work and congrats for making this in just a few days!
