Wauwww the artwork is production ready! just a liiiiitle bit of polish on the controls, some audio, but holy shit it looks great!

The artwork and style was great. Some audio would have been nice but the level design was pretty challenging enough to make it fun.

Beautiful art. It becomes really stressful when you get stuck in some of the obstacles, you can feel the danger coming. Just missing a scary music to set the mood.

Really scary and beautiful. The death/lose scream is such a great touch. I loved the way the static would seemingly coming out of nowhere and rise to full volume, made that moment really rewarding in a weird way. Fantastic art and level design.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! The static was the only sound I could get to work in time, I had footsteps and music ready to go, but uh... well. Either way, I'm glad you liked it.

That's interesting, its speed is based on how fast I am moving? Makes for a fun game of reverses chicken I guess :D Was the main character drawn by you? Pretty cool.

Developer

Yes! The main character and everything else, I had an alternate jumping sprite I liked better that I didn't end up using:

I just kind of forgot.  I'm glad you liked it!

Your lack of a thumbnail was misleading. Add some of that beautiful art to the game's page so folks know what sort of treat they're in for!

Sufficiently creepy, controls well, and perfect length for a jam game. You did well on this! I loved the character animation and the art. I think parts of the level could have been a little more clear about what was on obstacle/platform and what wasn't. This is a great jam game and I hope you're happy with what you've made. I was happy with what I played. Well done!

Developer(+1)

I've updated the project to include a thumbnail (I think). I just figured it was cheating since I forgot to upload one before the jam ended - ya know?
I'm glad you liked it! I was worried it was  a little too short, so it's a relief to hear otherwise. Other than not being able to put in everything made due to my unfamiliarity with Godot, I am extremely happy with how it turned out (and that it even turned out at all).

Generally speaking, updating the game page is fine (thumbnail, description, instructions, etc) but the actual game is a no-no.

the aesthetic of this game is wonderfully depressing, gameplay wise it's a simple platformer which handles the job
definitely enjoyed this one because of the art and setting

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! The art was the driving force behind the whole project (I'm an artist, not a programmer) .
My original draft did have some other mechanics like, the shadow would randomly appear in front of you and you'd have to retrace your steps - but I should couldn't get it to work 100% of the time so I scrapped it.  There was also supposed to be a key to your house hidden somewhere in the level - which would have made this a puzzle platformer (?).

This game is really defined by its art! Great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Would you believe me if I told you it took me longer to program the movement than it did to draw everything?

Despite the lack of sound, this game was really well designed art-wise! A bit short, but a great concept for a future game!

Developer

Ah! I know! I had some music and sound effects recorded, but I fumbled right at the end. I also had thoughts to make the game longer - even having a part where you'd have to race to a lighthouse to "vanish the shadow". Ah well - maybe for the sequel. :)

the game lacks music and sound, it is also difficult to identify the background with the platforms, the level design is not varied, but the game is somewhat fun, it controls well and it is an interesting idea, but with some errors when executing it.

Developer

Couldn't be helped I'm afraid. Next jam game will definitely have sound!
