Cool take on Katamari Damacy with collecting trash in the ocean. The movement feels really good and its cool to see how big your trash ball can get. A fun enjoyable experience that just needs some additional messaging to make it a more cohesive experience.
Future improvements:
A great fun little experience, with just a few tweaks could be some much more – well done.
Love the Katamari style game! The ball of trash was really nice to control and felt like there was some weight to it when turning it.
I found some trash stuck in the border that couldn't be collected and it was quite a lot of trash to collect but that also sends the message of how much trash ends up in the ocean.
Great idea, I enjoyed playing it!
When you told me you were going to make a katamari sea game I was worried the main mechanic would be hard to pull off but you have done it with ease! I think 2 ways that mechanic could be scaled to emulate katamari a lil more would be that trash can stick to the other pieces of trash on you also, then it makes it harder to roll and more frustrating as time goes on.
Great concept and amazed you pulled it off so well in the jam! <3
Thanks for the kind words :)
I did plan to have the trash pile up on top of one another, but it turned out to be a little difficult for the ball to move around... and there were some issues with the collisions with the other trash, creating weird trash tentacles, almost. had I fixed that, it would have been implemented, but hey. Maybe next time :)
This is such a great gameplay take on the rubbish in the sea and I actually enjoyed collecting it for a while! Perhaps you've pioneered the solution to the world's rubbish problem?
I think if the amount collected was reduced and an enemy/obstacle of some sort was added then then this would be a perfect arcade-like game.
Overall, great execution on an important topic!
Thanks for the kind words :)
I figured the amount of trash would be a bit of a statement about the amount of trash thrown into the ocean in real life, given there are islands the size of small countries out there. I figured letting that make a statement and forsake some playability was a good enough trade-off. An enemy would be a nice idea, but I'll be honest, I couldn't think of anything at the time. Though perhaps something to do with the business dumping the waste in the oceans might make a big impact.
Awesome unique mechanic for picking up the rubbish, i really enjoyed just running around watching the ball do all the work. But, it did get a little repetitive after a while, if you could add one or two more features to the game it would be perfect! Overall, amazing work! >:D
Thanks for the kind words :)
The repetitiveness is a statement in a way, given that, unfortunately, that's what the cleaning of the oceans requires. Plenty of tedious work. Maybe the idea of a ball rolling around the ocean could be a fun idea in real life too, just picking up all the plastic in the ocean. Though it might end up being a bit of a toy for wildlife, who knows. Again, thank you :)
The game is very unique in terms of actual collecting the trash :) Although I think it could have some values retuned, for example 10000 seems like a lot. On the other hand it gives the player the real-life experience of how hard is it to clean the ocean :) Good job!
Thanks for the kind words :)

I figured letting that make a statement and forsake some playability was a good enough trade-off. Gives a sense of how it is to clean the oceans in reality. It's not a fun job, but it must be done.
