Nice work! I was initially a little lost, but I generally find that fun so I enjoyed the absence of a tutorial or detailed instructions. The need to make inferences about the date and schedule, e.g., also made it more fun (in contrast to just gathering info), I liked that. The artwork is really beautiful and professional (it looks like you have graphics credits to others, but I assume the scenes and items to investigate are yours). Some hopefully helpful feedback for further development: the gear in the upper right doesn't seem to work for me. Having played the game, the thumbnail image also remains a mystery -- perhaps a planned character/items/interaction that didn't make it for the deadline? Nice job!
Thank you so much! I will fix the gear button after the game jam ends.
Yes they're all characters that will appear in future cases~
The art is mostly done by me, but some assets are photoshop-filtered from public domain images :)
This is a great entry that makes really good use of the optional detective theme! I'm a big fan of logic puzzles so it was a pleasant surprise to find out that this game not only had them, but considerably challenging ones at that. The visuals were cute and polished, matching the standard of quality of a professional release so it's impressive that you were able to make this in such a short amount of time. If you decide to develop this into a full game I'll definitely be giving it a purchase. Fantastic work!
Wow, thank you so much!
I definitely plan on finishing this into a full game!
I love the artstyle and sound! Also clues are fun, guessing the right ones and looking for them is really well polished! Great work on this one!
Thank you so much!
Loved this game! I can't wait to see the other cases!
Thank you! I'll keep you updated when I add more cases!
Wow, this art is gorgeous, and the whole project is incredibly polished! Great job
Thanks :D
Art is AMAZING!! Great way to incorporate the mystery solving theme into a game. Incredible work!!
Thank you!!
This game is artistically stunning. I agree with every other comment here about the art style, it's just beautiful. This game oozes polish! One thing I think would have been beneficial was a bit of a indication of what the player is supposed to do. After aimlessly clicking for a bit did I finally understand I was supposed to be clicking on the highlighted words, for some reason I just thought the underline was an artistic choice of things I had to remember rather than gathering words for a word bank. This may be my inexperience with whodunnit's with plentiful information to sift through (in this case the times, locations, events and names) to connect things but I found the case to be a bit difficult hehe. I was suuuper proud of myself for putting it together and it definitely provides engaging gameplay, you could do many things with this. Music is great too, cute
Thank you for the feedback! Definitely need to add some kind of an instruction on how to play the game.
Really cool game to play! Figuring out the answer from the little clue is so enjoyable! I love the artstyle and music, it brings such a nice cozy feel to the game! Well done :D
Very cute and beautiful artwork! Some of the items in the scene didn't quite match the background artwork, would love to have those drawn in the same style. I also found the puzzle a bit difficult, but the name was really satisfying to get because of the the little hint. The other one was a little slim on the hints, but overall very polished!
:D Had to make do with filtered public domain images, but will definitely replace those images in the final demo version.
Thanks for the review!
I love the art
Very cute art and style, and nice music as well. I really liked the journal system for solving the puzzle, it was very fun and engaging! I haven't played The Case of Golden Idol but it reminded me a little of Chants of Senaar.
Thank you!
Not bad, great art.
Thanks!
