I made an interactive site for visualizing the progression of the jam. Check it out here https://vykri.com/pass-the-game-2023/

^^^ MVP

I think the jam hosts would love this as well, this is amazing!

Thanks! Glad people are getting some use out of it.

Wow the arrange by day button literally blew my mind!

Looks amazing and depressing at the same time.
The number of projects that die on day 1 really makes me sad (and unfortunately my day 1 game was among them).

But the overall visualisation is very well done !

Very true. I think in the announcement video they speculated about 50% wouldn't get picked up. Interesting to see the real data. Projects getting picked up multiple times really at up opportunities  quick.

Yay its finally here thanks guys much appreciated

This is amazing!

I have to say, with those trees of games, and only some spawning progenitors... this is kind of looking like a game development evolutionary process almost. Very interesting.

Can’t wait for day 5 update!

Updated for day 5

Working on filtering via game engine. Here's all the game maker entries

Very cool!

I added the ability to filter based on engine to my visualizer. You can now see a visualization of how the various engine games have done over the course of the jam. Check it out here: https://vykri.com/pass-the-game-2023/

Added entries for day 6! Take a look https://vykri.com/pass-the-game-2023/

i think this game is sorted wrong

Ah, thanks for the callout, I'll fix it in a sec.

Fixed now.

man this is so cool and depressing at the same time.

how didi you do that? do use the itch api or something?

Used Cheerio to scrape the descriptions for links to previous day's games an used Cytoscape to display the graphs.

Hey, I made one too! :D

This is great! Too many good games were left in the dust... There were multiple games that I looked at on day 1 and thought that I want to work on it some day. Alas, they were not found on later days .

RIP my day 1 world mirroring mechanic

Submitted(+1)

That was certainly interesting!

(+2)

you Rocks !

Soo cool that you took the time to do it

(+1)

Thanks! Ironically I mostly worked on this during the jam instead of the jam itself haha

Submitted(+1)

Well, this was very fun to look at. I love being able to see which games I built actually made it to day six!

(+1)

Crazy and kind of sad how many of the games died on day 5 😭 so close to the finish line…

There was a game made in Game Maker that made it to day 5 before dying. Sucks for the Game Maker community.

Thanks for this tool! I linked to it from my unofficial bonus round jam so that people can more easily pick up projects. I hope it's ok 😊 (jam's here if interested:

https://itch.io/jam/games-we-passed-jam)

It's more than okay. Hope it helps people in your jam as well!

Well, here's hoping there will be people who wants to participate and also find their way to the jam (not really sure where I could promote it) 😅

(+1)

I made a post in the #game-jams topic of the BlackthornProd discord to share it a bit.

(+1)

Thanks! I'm not on that discord and wouldn't want to join just to promote my jam so it's much appreciated.

(+1)

I also just updated the box in the top right corner of https://vykri.com/pass-the-game-2023/ to link to the jam. Hope that helps as well.

Wow, thanks! Maybe this'll get some attention. I wish I had set this up on day 6 while ppl were more active here...
