I think the art for this game is really nice, the music choice suits it pretty well, and the decision to do a visual novel for this game jam is unique given that I've yet to come across any other visual novels on here. Unlike a lot of other visual novels, however, there was basically zero interaction on the part of the player. No decisions to be made, no alternate or branching paths, nothing. It just whittles down to watching things happen. A lot of the writing is also really awkward, mainly when the game is trying to describe a character doing a certain action or having a certain facial expression, mostly because there was no visual indicator or break or anything like that. This made it look like the character was talking rather than striking a pose in-game or whatever. The game also didn't delve into the theme much: When it starts to, it just abruptly ends with a message stating, "Thanks for playing, hope you enjoyed, yadda yadda". Overall, there's a few aspects I really enjoyed, but it could have been better. 6/10.

My feedback for Love Sick:

What your game does well:

It's plot is original, and I haven't seen or read something like it before.

The color palette is vibrant and fits the tone of the game's narrative.

What your game doesn't do well:

There were lots of points in the dialog where you wrote action text(ex: smiles slightly, flicks his hair back, etc). May not have been those exact words, but there were two problems with this:

  1. There wasn't any indicator, like asterisks, to distinguish action text from character lines. Everything blends in together.
  2. The game being a visual novel, one of the advantages of working in the medium is that you can 'show', not 'tell'.
    1. That is, rather than stating action text, you can illustrate it with a character's gesture, even if it's a subtle sprite change.

The gameplay was a straight line of dialog clicking. At least, the part I played was. There wasn't any variation or choice allowed to me as a the player, which is generally one of the reasons some stories get told as games. Right now, the player is just a bystander while the story unfolds and is being told to them.

Areas of Opportunity:

You have 5 characters, all with actions they take throughout the story. If you want to make this more of a game and not just a novel, I recommend giving the player a role to play. It can be as one of these 5 characters or as a 6th character/entity entirely.

Try to say more with less. If you do, in fact, have a section planned where there will be player choice involved the introduction could be cut down a little. It's really long, and I think we can learn more about the characters and their relationships to one another through gameplay.

I hope this feedback helps!

Wow, amazing artworks (it reminded me of the TRPG "BESM" - big eyes, small mounth) and audio. Indeed interesting idea is in the story. There are just few typos like "in frInt of his house" instead "...frOnt...", "definietly spleeping" is correct English? I would use "definitively".  Why te "QT", does it mean something?  Oh, I think that I got it, QT is to be pronounced as cute, right?:) The descriptions are not well separated from the direct speeches.  "She will smaller" - "be" is missing there.  "...continue(hopefully..." - strike spacebar!;)

Anyway, this game got me :). I am looking forward the whole (even paid) version!:) But.. Because there was nothing to do (just clicking on the text window to move on), I am giving just 1 /  5 for fun. All the rest ratings from me are 5 / 5. Note that I consider the theme of the game as OUTSIDE IN and not as inside out as was requested by the jam giver. But as an amazingly tolerant person, I rated 5 / 5 the theme too. (You are lucky that my life Partner is not in this jam, because he is not that tolerant like me).

Feel free to try, rate and comment the game which I submitted - made by my life Partner (not just a boyfriend, got it?:)).
