Hey, I was wondering if I can showcase your game in a youtube video because it scored #2 in Uniqueness? You will be credit however you like, just reply with your social media or something else.
ok
lol it was 1 minute ago, i just went to check if you replied
The text implementation of the races looks great.
The game description gives the impression that the simulation of the race is pretty detailed (probably why the same horse never stays in first place all the way, which helps a lot in making the races exciting), but as a player I would have liked to have more information in the game itself (for example, knowing in advance what kind of race the next race is going to be to train accordingly). Obviously in a jam you don’t always have time to do everything.
Maybe naming the rivals could help create some tension across various races. Getting to name your own horse is also always fun :)
Overall it’s a pretty fun idea for a game. Good job!
Best part of this game has to be watching the text horses running across the screen, rooting for yours to win, although I was never quite sure what the stats did or how I should be training. The strategies seemed cool, but I couldn't figure out if there was a way I could change my horse's strategy of if they made much of a difference.
Overall though it was a fun game! Great job!
Something about game logic details updated in the game page. The play horse's run strategy may be swich in the future version.
It reminded me of the time when I was a child and played horse racing/betting games on the spectrum with my family. Training your horse and rooting for it to come first as you watched it run across the screen. Good memories!
A few things I would have liked to have seen. Information about the different strategies the rival horses used before each race. Things like: first, front, back, tail. None of these strategies are ones you can pick for your own horse. Not that I can see anyway.
The other things that would have been good to see was your horse in the line up before the race where the stats for each horse is shown so that you can easily compare, and for the rival horses to have different stats from each other. From all of the races I saw it seemed like all of the rivals had the same stats.
Sadly my horse which always had better stats than the rival horses would never come first
Something about game logic details updated in the game page. The play horse's run strategy may be swich in the future version. The rivals have the same stats because I can control the balance easier, but it should be designed more carefully in the future version.
Interesting game!
Was exciting seeing my horse racing, first, almost losing and then winning!
As rugeboy suggested, some more indication about the meaning of each status would be nice. I won the first 2 races but got third in the race 3, despite having all stats higher than my rivals. Maybe it is just part of the simulation (being able to lose even with better stats), but I did not know what should my horse train to improve for the next races ;)
Congratulations!
Something about game logic details updated in the game page. There may be something unbalanced with the functions and coefficients, which perhaps makes the BACK or TAILS run-strategy has too much bonus. But a better stats always win to the same run-strategy, right?
It was fun to watch the horse races, but I wish I had more of an indication of what each stat was doing so I knew what to improve. I don't have a clue what power is supposed to do. And I won in my first race which didn't give me much motivation to keep trying cause I had no room for improvement. So I would suggest you make the first race a little tougher. But it was exciting when I thought I was about to lose and then suddenly right at the end, my horse pulled ahead and won. Good Job.
Something about game logic details updated in the game page. The schedule of races(with rivals) will be improved in the future version. The sprint mechanism makes your horse pulled ahead at the end.
