I've been a hobby developer (off and on in my spare time) for the past ten years, trying to learn the ropes of the craft. I've made several projects over that time frame, making tons of mistakes and growing from them. I made the prototype for Phase Cypher a few months ago and in total dev time, I've spent about a month working on it. The game is a tribute to the cyberpunk genre, which I'm a huge fan of.

Loved the idea! and also the graphic style

Damn its hard, mostly because of the controls. But its fun! ;)

Developer

You can try it with a gamepad... a friend suggested that I put it in and it makes a huge difference. It's a bit easier to play with a controller. Thanks for the play and feedback! ^ ^

Love the lime green theme. Takes me back to the good old days... from before I was born ;)

Developer

XD Yes... I'm an older geek... thanks for making me feel... older lol!!! I really appreciate you taking the time to play my game! ^ ^

Super cool idea & game! Love it

Loved the atmosphere, as someone who's recently got really into cyberpunk it's really cool! Gameplays fun too; keyboard controls were a bit awkward but from what I've gathered the Gamepad stuff makes it easier. Excited to see where you take this next! Super cool!

Thanks for playing! I have a few things planned for PC... tweaking the movement and data projection, adding mouse controls and some minor bug fixes. I've even toyed with the idea for a sequel, but at this point I may have to put that on the "to do" list... so many other things going on right now, kinda hard to commit to one lol! Stay posted... I'll be posting updates asap. Thanks again for the feedback! ^ ^

I like the style of this a lot, and the music was pretty good. Love the Neuromancer vibes. It was hard for me to control with the keyboard, and I kept sending data packets crashing into the walls, to my chagrin.  Definitely enjoyed it though!

It's a bit easier to play with a gamepad and I plan on adding mouse controls as well. I'm hoping I can tweak the player controls a bit without breaking the build... I'll see what I come up with. Thank you for playing!

Really enjoyed the lo fi design, atmosphere, and commitment to making me feel like a hacker straight out of some 80’s sci fi nonsense in the best possible way.

Developer

Exactly what I was going for with the design choice! ;) I'm glad you liked it! Thank you for playing! ^ ^

A very interesting game and although the concept is quite cool, I found that (at least while using the keyboard, since that is the way I have played) I can almost never seem to fire the data the way I want to - is that by design? Another small issue that I have had is that if you restart the level (by pressing "Enter"), the sound of the game or at least the music volume will increase every time

It certainly made me feel like I was hacking something, although the story might be a bit complex for the understanding of some players (myself included at some points) - one suggestion that I have is to put something under the text but above the game so that the text is visible and does not interfere with the game (or perhaps at the very least change the color so that it does not blend in with the environment) - it will also look a bit more aesthetic I believe!

Thanks for playing! I never got a chance to test the restart feature lol! Thank you for catching that bug! I designed the game to "aim" the data projectile by using the WASD or arrows on keyboard, but it's a bit wonky to execute: you have to press the space bar right after you let go of the direction you are moving towards. It's hard to explain in words. It's like getting the timing right in those fighting games; trying to get a combo to perform right I guess. I'll try to see if I can re-work the mechanics for a future build, to make it a bit easier to control the data.

I'll also see about re-designing the text UI... I see what you mean about the level design obstructing the view for the player. Thank you for your feedback!!! It's most appreciated. ^ ^

Good job!

Well done!

Neat game! Wish there was some indicator as to which direction the packet would spawn. Otherwise very good.

Yeah, I also struggled to understand which direction the things would shoot when I hit the spacebar. Cool atmosphere, though!

Developer

I'm working on a fix for that situation. Hopefully, I can have it ready soon. Again, thank you for the feedback! ^ ^
