  • Cool music, I appreciate the tutorial. I feel the game has contradicting game design decisions, the level is too big for the tail of the snake to ever come into play (or at least, in a realistic time frame) I feel the level should've been a lot smaller. The "escape" mechanic seems pointless, it makes you want to bank your high score, but if you didnt beat your highscore it's pointless and if you did, well you'd rather keep going to see who high you woudl do instead of "escaping" to bank the high score and have to start over to retry. Dying is also very unclear, I think I bumped into a wall ? There's not much feedback and there's a fullscreen effect so it's bit unclear. The game is well put together, but has a couple of game design issues.

I made the music with Bandlab including there loopers and samples but I put them together myself

Ok, this game is a pretty fun one. I kinda like how I weigh choices to either keep playing or get to the exit, it feels like a gamble since your high score only saves if your go into the exit. Good music, good game!

Thank you so much!!! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

They call me Snak-Man.

Anyways, this game was a pretty fun take on some familiar concepts. It did feel like it started a bit slow, but it ramps up quickly, which I appreciate (I like how intense the music gets when you reach 10 pellets). I also sort of like how needing to get to the exit creates a risk-reward scenario since your high score only saves if your reach the exit (mine is 17).

That's awesome, you beat the Devs lol.

Cool! Love the arcade vibes. Also the high score / game over music is a BOP.

Developer

Thank you so much!!! I am really proud of the music because I've never made music for a video game before :)

Nice game with a lot of polish! I like how the snake and the music speed up when your score increases, it adds some nice tension. Your game looks good too, love the CRT shape. I think adding the option to toggle a scanlines effect could make it look even better!

Currently, I think there is no incentive to use the exit door instead of trying to collect more pellets because the game ends with your current score in both scenarios. Maybe exiting through the door could give you bonus points, or you could "store" collected pellets there and shrink back to your original size, but keep the speed and the accumulated score 🤔

It's fun, great work to all the team!

Thank you for your nice words!!! I see what you mean the intention is that using the exit stores your high score but we still wanted players to see what score they could've gotten but I see where you are coming from.  I really like the scanlines idea I'll bring that  up to the team. :)

Developer

By the way, what was your high score?

I got 10 points on my best try! 😁

NIce job, cool game, the gobble be do galactic, like the retro.y style and a simple snake type of game is always fun, good job!

Developer

Nice job, I had fun gobbling.

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it!! What was your high score?

I wish the initial speed was just a tad faster, and that turning was just a bit tighter. However, as I said, I really enjoyed the twist on the snake gameplay, the risk/reward is really satisfying and your arcade bezel is just so fun.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! I'll take note and let the team know about the speed and turning. I'm glad you had fun :)

I experienced a bug that made a pellet spawn within a wall. I did 5 runs but it only happened once.

Another bug I noticed is when you repeatedly hit 2 directions in succession (e.g. up and right), sometimes you will move two spaces at once and crash immediately.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for your feedback! yeah I actually fixed the pellet spawn bug but the file got corrupted and we forgot to re-fix it lol. the moving 2 spaces one we experienced but couldn't  replicate it so we never fixed it but I'll let the team know. again thank you for playing!
