  • Congratulations on your completed entry into the Fireside's first ever Game Jam!
  • It took me a few seconds to realize who the opponents were. Clever. lol. The game's mechanic is a familiar one wrapped in a very odd and interesting wrapper. I think the art and music worked well for the game you tried to deliver on, the gameplay itself could have been more impactful and juicey though. The issues I had with this game: -Both the fight with Pongles and the bald guy are won before the bar fully increases. -It's not really difficult enough, I didn't miss a single note through all 3 fights. -Being able to fight all 3 fighters from the start without indication of difficulty meant I could have fought the hardest fighter first and then had a boring time with the easier 2. Overall, the concept caught me off guard and surprised me(in a good way), so well done. 👍
  • The best part of this game by far was the intricate level of graphics and the customization of sprites to match the fearless leaders, I mean hosts. It was a short game and was unchallenging but the unique game type was certainly inspired. The music was fun and appropriate for the style. It was one of the few games with clear instructions and controls so points for that. Better coordination of music and game play could help and many more levels could actually see this game become profitable on a mobile platform. Kudos for it being so well built.

This is a really clever idea for a game and interpretation of the theme.   I also thought the sprite art was really nice.  Unfortunately, the rhythm aspect doesn't hold up super well.  It's extremely easy and isn't really timed with the music so it just sort of feels more like a timing game based on visuals alone. Also, I thought adding Wesley and Pongles was a nice choice, but aside from the character art every fight felt exactly the same, different music or other decorations around the visuals would really help them feel different.   Overall, neat idea that I think could be great with just a few tweaks

thanks for the input i was planning on making a few post  jam no idea if my team want 2 updates and this is greatly appreciated

Pros:
- Great music
- Great visuals
- Simple to play

Cons:
- Missing any indication that you're actually attacking in any way.
- It's very easy - Could either speed up the buttons quite a bit, add more buttons to press, or make the opponent increase at a faster rate.
- Notes don't match up with the music, but that's probably difficult to do.

Overall it's an enjoyable, if short experience. Great work!

when the jam is over i will fix the difficulty and add some stuff we did not add but our only goal was to make something fun

Well I played all the way through this one, very cool and clever artistic choices.

I did really get much of the theme if I am honest other than you collect health, water etc.

But a super fun well made game.

Developer

ya the theme of this was your rejuvenating the stamina

Cool game! Sort of like a mix between DDR and punchout I suppose! I think more games should let me punch out the jam hosts ;) anyway,  there is some really fantastic art and animation here. I  can't believe you made all of that! Wonderful work and very silly. Mechanically I love the idea but ultimately there's not much of a challenge. I didn't even get close to missing a beat on a single level, and it seems like your combos carry over so I'm not sure if this is how it works but the last 2 enemies went down in like 5 seconds each.  I think you probably could have doubled or even tripled the speed for the following enemies and I would have had a lot of fun with it. Overall though I think you did a great job and made something fun and special for the jam!

thanks the animation and art was the work of kokutouchichi

Nicely presented game with great artwork and catchy music. Main feedback is to have the key presses match the rhythm in the music (which I think someone else also pointed out). Great touch putting Wes in there too, lol.

lmao I didn't hit play expecting to beat up Pongles and Wesley. Funny game, but could've been harder imo.  The music is very fitting and could be improved if extended a bit to decrease repetition. Good game!

i have had the pop up a few time when i am done with the jam i will turn up the difficulty

the animations are really cool :D ,and there is HelperWesley in there to fight xD

its fun to play but its really easy to to win, i was able to finish win and finish the game (killed 3 characters) in no time with 0 mistakes, if the difficulty was harder a bit like, a FASTER going down buttons/icons  that will be Awesome to play !

overall perfect animations/SFX/Music <3

thanks for the feed back. Happy to know u enjoyed it

I enjoyed this. The visuals are especially great. But hitting the beats doesn't seem to have anything to do with the music at all which kind of defeats the purpose of a rhythm game.

I like the interpretation of the theme, the focus on rejuvenating your fighter works really well.

Thanks! We got the music the last day of the jam and with the other game breaking bugs we had to fix, just wasn't enough time. It's also really easy, something we can definitely fix post jam though! Thanks for the feedback

a piece of advice I see in all "game jam advice" videos is to err on the side of too easy, so I wouldn't worry about that, as long as it's still engaging. And yeah, even though it's too easy, a moment of lost focus still can lose you the game. So I feel the difficulty works.

And yeah. Jam time limits do mean sacrifices so I get that... if you work on a post jam release and sync up inputs to the music I'd love to revisit the game.

will do  when jam is over and i do that  i will be sure to put it in the discord
