Fun little game, I'm digging the art style! I liked that you get power ups depending on guessing jail/pardon for the crime right. And best of all you did it all in only 48 hours, nice job!
Wow! A lot of cool ideas here! I'm impressed with the number of systems you were about to create successfully in 48 hours! Art too?? Very impressive. You did a lot with little time.
I LOVE how you captured the theme. You built your game mechanics around the theme, not just the story! Of all the games I've played so far, this does the best job of really leaning into the theme and making a game around it. It's interesting how the actions of other influence you in combat, very interesting!
This feels a lot like our game, Purgatory Gatekeeper, which is hilarious! We had VERY similar ideas for the theme. I love this, great work!
Thank you for the kind words! I spent the entire weekend beating the game down calling it "trash". I appreciate someone finding enjoyment out of it!
My man, this is not trash!
You heard the theme, came up with an idea, built systems, art, and game mechanics that work well together, and you did it all in 48 hours!
All the mechanics work exactly like they're supposed to, and the art looks great. Maybe you just don't like the "game" part? Do you feel like it's not fun? I don't know why you think it's trash!
You had the idea, and you executed. Jams are a place of experimenting, and you have to work within the confines of a theme. You have to come up with an idea, and you just go! You have one shot at it, and if afterward you just don't think your game is fun, that's just the way jams go down.
In my opinion, there are just a lucky few games in every jam that find an idea that really works and would be commercially viable. I think most games just end up trying something new, and that's what it's all about. Personally, I don't base success on how good the idea is or how fun the game is at the end, because you can't know that until after you made the game. And by then, you're locked into your idea.
Personally, I judge the quality of a jam game by execution. Not "how good is your idea," but "how well did you execute your idea." You did a dang good job pulling this off, and even if you don't think the idea of your game is fun, you pulled that idea to the finish line and did a darn good job making it look great and feel great.
I enjoyed my experience, and it got several laughs out of me. This one is a total winner in my eyes.
LOVE this game! Really great job! I wouldn't call it 2D though.. you can move in all directions. I love the art work, love how it's dark and seedy and disco-dance-floor-esque. Love the graffiti on the walls and the lighting. Love the effects when hitting - they look like a firework :) Love the "Crimes" so funny! Game jam at 12am, robbed with a banana, the "flower" one hahaha So good! I always end up huge and so do the enemies. 🤷♀️Love the sound effect too... makes me think of a funny clip of "The Office" I saw recently - "it squeaks when you bang it" 😂😂😂 Good job with sticking to the theme. Really fun! Thanks!!!
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to play it! I really appreciate it!
Hah! 5 star effort, just for the crime of hosting a game jam at 12am zing.
