It's a pretty challenging game. I think it's challenging enough without being shot at too. It's fun, but I think it would be more fun if it was a little easier. I got stuck trying to get the nut in the pool. I just couldn't get the jump right.

This is a pretty interesting concept and is fun, however not sure if it's just me but I do think the squirrel moves a bit too fast.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah, he's a little twitchy, but squirrels are twitchy, so we wanted to keep that feel. But short movements are the hardest. Using a controller eliminates this because then you're using analog movement instead of digital. So if you only want to move a small amount, only push on the stick a small amount.

Thanks for trying it out!

Fun game, and some tricky spots to find nuts! I'm not sure if it was just me, but I wasn't able to play the last level as the controls stopped working right when I got to it for some reason. Other than that, it was very enjoyable, and the occasional commentary was pretty funny!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, I found that too. If you let the time run out and restart it works, but that’s a pain.

I really like the game 9/10

Developer

Hey, thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked it!

Like the game idea, and the swiftness of things. the controls are a bit "wild" though which makes it a bit too hard IMHO. With refined  controls I would play this for a long time! Great work!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks a lot! Did you try using Chrome or a download? I've found the controls run much better in Chrome.

Thanks for checking it out!

I used Chrome

Developer

Did you use the keyboard or a contrtoller? During testing, I found that my Xbox One controller gave me finer control with the joysticks.

Extremely fun, but a bit unwieldy to control, and sometimes the buttons just don't work when trying to click on them to go to the next level or restart. I had to reload the page some times. Although, when it works it's fun and funny.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I've found Chrome allows it to run well and control well. It still can be touchy, but I'm not sure if that's the controls or just how jittery squirrels actually are (kidding).  I just released an update where I removed mouse input. This has now fixed all of the menus. Please use the enter key or south button on a controller to click buttons.

Thanks for checking it out!

Seems that Chrome is the best browser to use for this game.

This did not run well for me in the browser, but I got it to work in the downloaded version. This was fun. Only made it to level 3 but might play more later. The only problem I have is that sometimes it feels like he shot no where near me but I still got hit. But that was not often enough to be annoying. I liked this a lot. It was fun, challenging, and mostly fair. Great job

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the way the shooting worked is as soon as the old man had you in the sights, he said something and then he waited a few seconds and then pulled the trigger. We did that so that the old man speech wouldn't be at the same time as the gun shot and the squirrel talking. But unfortunately it then looked like he shot you when he wasn't even aiming at you. We added the voices late. Sorry about that! We should have just had the old man rambling the whole time and then just instantly pulled the trigger when the crosshairs was close.

I still really liked this game regardless though. You guys did a great job.

Thanks! We certainly appreciate the kind words!

MY LAST MISSION IN LIFE IS TO HAVE A SQUIRREL KEBAB

This might be the most fun thing I've reviewed on this jam so far. The controls are just twitchy enough to feel satisfyingly squirrel-like, the health and time mechanics add sufficient tension, the levels are well-designed, the dead squirrels to mark where you died are a good attention to detail, tthe difficulty curve is solid, the visuals are nice, and the voice acting had me ROLLING. My only real complaints are that there isn't any music, the hit detection on the gunshots seems inconsistent, and it can be pretty glitchy. Otherwise, I had a blast.

Developer(+1)

Hey, thank for the awesome review! The gunshots are intended to be random.

Looks like we have a bug with menu selection. Please try to stay away from using the mouse and use the arrow keys and enter button for selecting.

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Cool idea! Unfortunately I could not select "Next Level" after beating the first one

Developer(+1)

Dang, sorry about that! I never had that issue with Chrome. But there is some issue with the reset button if you run out of time. If you get a chance to try it again, when the menu comes up, try hitting the Enter key rather than use the mouse.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for the heads up! I'll give it another try tomorrow. I'm using Firefox by the way in case it might be related to the browser

Developer(+1)

OK! Turns out we had a bug with the events. So they have been fixed. Just use the keyboard or controller for any menu input and it should work! Thanks again!
