Nice concept!
Could use a little more polish on the jetpack mechanic, though. But i like it!

Developer

Hey sintech,

Thanks for the feedback. Yes unfortunately we didn’t have time to fine-tune the mechanics (and there was more planned, but unfortunately we didn’t have time to implement it).

Nice game idea! I liked the graphics as well.

I agree with other comments that it would be nice to have horizontal control (even minimal ones) while using the jetpack (or to have different obstacles maybe) because, even going up but just a little bit to the left/right is difficult (I did not find any other way than bouncing on the walls).

Developer

Hey loig,

Thanks for the feedback. The choice was intentionally but maybe we could have made the mechanics more fun.

Gameplay: A bit more explanation would be nice. At first I thought that the red bar was a timer or something and there was a bomb or something at the bottom of the falling area (You could put a heart symbol next to the red bar). But after I knew all the mechanics it was fun.

Graphics: The graphics were decent.

Audio: Intense music would have been nice this is a nice easy music maker if you want it.

Innovation: Not the most innovative.

Theme: I guess its a moonshot to get to the middle

Overall: Fun game, I liked the mechanics.

Can you try my game?

Developer

Hey CJDGameDev,

Thanks for the feedback. The music tool you posted seems great for game jams. We will probably use it in the future, thanks.

I tried your game and it was also really good.

I just found out if you download the music without paying for it there is a watermark (someone speaking)

I share others' feelings regarding the jetpack movement and fuel, but overall I enjoyed the experience. There are quite a few baits at the beginning which had me restarting a lot, but the core mechanic was fun enough to keep me going.

Developer

Hey DakotaHall,

Thanks for the feedback. We are glad that you liked our game.

The game looks interesting, and the space vibe really comes through
one issue that people have already brought up, is that you could not control the player horizontally while using the jet-pack which made the game really hard. If u r planning to continue development on this project, i think that should be the 1st fix to introduce :)

Developer

Hey GeneralAnimal,

Thanks for the Feedback. Not being able to move horizontally while in the air was an intentional choice. However, we should have first created some easier section in order for players to get used to the mechanics.

Such a hard level, I wasn't able to make it very far at all :( Not being able to jetpack left and right makes a really interesting control mechanic but it also gets frustrating really fast because of how tight the platforming is and the fact that you take fall damage. Would have been nice to have an easier first level to get used to the controls and then throw the player into the deep end.

The artwork was pretty nice. Would have liked a nice soundtrack to go along with it. But its a gamejam and time limits get in the way so I understand. Hope you keep working on the game and make improvements to all these areas, would love to give it another try and get used to the interesting movement mechanic.

Developer

Hey ColorPalett,

Thanks for the Feedback. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to create more levels. Next time we will definitely plan in more time for level design.

Very tough game but it did keep me trying for quite a while. I like the art. It did get a bit tedious after a while because you need to start form the beginning after every mistake. Some music might have made it easier to try a few more times (although I also didn’t manage to add any music to my submission; time is short). Thanks for making it :)

Developer

Hey Nikl,

Thanks for the Feedback. Glad you liked the game. A checkpoint system was already suggested by someone, we will keep that in mind next time. Music is currently the area we struggle the most with, but we will try to improve 😊

What kind of worthless jet pack is this? Very frustrating that you can't use it to move horizontally.

Developer(+1)

Hey Magn,

Thanks for the Feedback. Moving only vertically with the jetpack was part of the game mechanics and we think it adds to the “space”-feeling. However, we should have created some easy section so that the player can get used to the mechanics.

Difficulty was very high, but I managed to push through to the end so you must have done something right to keep me playing it, although that did mean the ending of plummeting down infinitely was a little bit of a disappointing reward. The art was not bad, and the controls worked great. Just a little more total fuel would help a lot because it can be annoying to just clip the corner of a platform and end up bouncing backwards. Then you know you have to restart the whole thing over because you haven't been efficient enough. Competent game overall though, the mechanics worked great. Congrats!

Developer

Hey Sam,

Thanks for the feedback This was not the (intended) end and you can walk a little bit farther to the right, but it’s very hard to have enough fuel left. 😉

A big part of the difficulty was to be as efficiently as possible with the fuel, but we definitely should have some easier sections first so that the players could learn the controls.

I tried to finish it but it was getting too frustrating. Fuel is too limited. I think you were going for some kind of hardcore, unforgiving Ninja Gaiden difficulty, but the controls aren't tight and you can't even boost horizontally.

Perhaps some check points or a series of small levels would have been nice. Having to restart from the very beginning after getting through tough parts was demoralizing. At least start off with some easy jumps and gradually move up to harder areas.

Graphics were nice though.

Hey lewdev,

Thanks for the feedback Unfortunately we ran out of time to produce more levels, so we decided to just make our demo level really hard 😉

A checkpoint system would definitely have been a low afford solution to decrease the difficulty, we will keep that in mind next time.

I agree to Bastian, very good effort, good art and mechanics, but the controls feel a bit weird.

Developer

Hey SupZRob_405,

Thanks for the feedback. We aimed for an unfamiliar feeling with the controls, but we should have ramped up the difficulty gradually.

Submitted

I couldn't get used to the controls while playing, but good effort!

Hey Bastian,

Thanks for the feedback. We aimed for an unfamiliar feeling with the controls, but we should have ramped up the difficulty gradually. Next time we will definitely keep that in mind.
