This is a really strong entry. I think the short time encourages replay to see how far you can get with gas masks. I do think this game would be better if it just had levels you went through but I understand you are working with the theme. Keep it up!
60 seconds is too short. I'm starting to enjoy the game but the timer is rude to stop me from intense moments. Nice particle effects too, it made it look the mobs are made of confetti. It's a good entry, congrats!
Love the sound effects and music. I need a bigger clock or something to show me how long I have left to life. In the heat of battle I don't see one. Not sure if it's better to destroy spawners or not.
Thanks for the comments!
We agree on the clock getting bigger or more noticeable as you get low on time; we didnt have quite enough time to implement this before submitting though :(
Its better to destroy some spawners if you are trying for a high score on the leaderboard. They give you 10 points versus 1 for each alien.
The game is fun but since it's so short it's a bit frustrating haha But I guess it's a good sign
Thank you!
We certainly wanted to (and may still) build more levels into the game, but we ran out of time before we were able to!
I always find games where the bullets are not significantly faster than the player's movements to be very interesting, because you get some kind of "suspended animation" effect as you expect the bullets to zip by. It also subconsciously changed your shooting patterns a bit. It also allows you to dodge enemy bullets which is nice.
I like that the game forces you to be proactive in shooting the spawners. I think overall it's an effective game for what it tries to accomplish, although I think right now the rooms are a bit too repetitive. One option would be to have different enemy types with different behaviors, another option would be to vary the rooms shapes a bit (right now they're all rectangular pretty much).
I noticed a couple of bugs: When I switch the particles to GPU mode, the particles don't get rendered anymore. Although I actually preferred this as it allowed me to see the bullets more clearly. Also I'm not sure how the leaderboard works right now. The top place was at 69 points and I got 95 and didn't get on the board.
Thanks a lot for your thoughts and game analysis! Very helpful stuff!
We definitely wanted to work on level design and creation more, but unfortunately just didn't have the time in this jam. Also, this should be more clearly communicated, but you have to make it to the portal at the end and win to be placed on the leaderboard.
Appreciate your in-depth feedback! On the GPU particles not rendering, this could be due to not having web GPU enabled in the browser (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Firefox/Experimental_features#w...).
Very good game ! The game dont work on my mac (using Brave and Safari). I dont have much to say, it's polished, the music is cool and the particles are magic !
Thanks a lot! We are very glad that you enjoyed it.
Did you end up having to play on a PC or what?
I managed to play on my ShadowPC (Windows VM) !
Fantastic idea and execution.
Was real fun and challenging to play to get to the high score board.
Very well done <3
Thank you so much for the comments and feedback!
Very fun game. Everything feels super polished, and I like the inclusion of a leaderboard too. The only problem I saw was the quit button freezing everything, but everything else was great!
Thank you for the comments and feedback! We are very glad that you enjoyed the game.
I forgot to remove the Quit button for web builds, whoops!
Did you make it on the leaderboard? I am considering resetting/clearing it at some point.
I don't think so lol. Very cool feature, though!
Thanks for the feedback. The quit button is an interesting problem since all it does is end the game loop; it makes it look like it froze but just is no longer doing anything. Maybe we should have blanked the screen and is definitely something we'll make sure to do next time.
Nice game. Quite challenging. The leaderboard system also somehow encouraging. It freezes when i choose 'quit', 'restart' is fine. Overall good work!.
Thank you so much!
Did you end up winning any?
I forgot to remove/hide the Quit button for web builds! We will make a note of that haha
I see, i thought it was going to the main menu. i do win some, i got 98 or 89 i forgot.
Really fun game! Great art and sound effects, shooting and killing the enemy it's satisfying!
I don't have any criticism to add, overall is a really solid game, and it's cool to have a leaderboard, increases the competition
Thanks so much for the comments and feedback! I think that we have a great little team right now.
Did you make the leaderboard? I am thinking about resetting it at some point. I think it will display the top 10 currently.
Good job.
I managed to survive the all 60s.
Nice! You should be on the daily Leaderboard! You can check it by going in the game and clicking Leaderboard
I really liked the style of your game and how you implement the time theme! the problem I noticed was the character's movement speed, I believe it's too slow. Good luck on the jam !
Thanks for your feedback! We unfortunately didn't spend much (any) time tweaking speed or health values. Good luck to you on the jam as well!
