This was crazy LOL. The amount of enemies surrouding me is insane, couldn't go far hahaha.

Maybe you could add somewalls that they had to surround it, tweak the move speed, etc. Felt a bit unfair :/

Otherwise, had a great time on it!

Gets intense really fast, but I like it even though it is very short :-) The game feel is very well done, the shooting sfx is lovely, and the shake gives it some extra sauce. Overall I enjoyed it :-)

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed it!

Nice Game! I thought that it could of used some music.  Also there were a bit too many enemy's, I don't know if that was intentional or there was like a super attack, but I found it very hard.

Overall I think it was fun, the visuals were great, and the sound was amazing!

Developer(+1)

Thank you RRgamer! I wanted to make the game time <1 minute so people didn't get bored. So glad you enjoyed the sound too.

Nice little game. The enemies are very fast, but I honestly kind of like how it's a hard game. Arcade games are supposed to feel difficult and unforgiving (especially when you're trying to beat a friend in a high score competition). I would highly recommend maybe even setting this up in a classic Arcade game and physically play this with friends.

I would keep working on this juuuuust a bbit more but honestly it's really fun! Thank you for the experience :)

Developer

Thanks for the kind words! I’d love to have an arcade cabinet of one of my games, it’s be so cool. As sometime who enjoyed the difficulty is there any feature in particular you thought it was missing?

Weird game. Enemies came so quick that I just didn't move and started shooting at them.  Good job

Developer

Yeah, I wanted to have nicer AI but I'm not a good programmer so something like A* was out of the question and NavMeshAgents don't work in traditional 2D so I had to use a straight forward MoveTowards. :( Thanks for playing!

amazing game, with a special artwork, but the spawning is a bit fast

Developer

Thank you for the nice feedback! Do you mind me asking which browser you were playing in? I'm wondering if it's a bug. The game was meant to be frantic and short as to not waste the player's time but I'm wondering if perhaps there's a bug or it's just faster than people were expecting.

thanks for your reply, and i was playing in google browser

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I'l check it out.

I really liked the artwork and sounds! Camera shake was a good idea and helpful indication. I feel it would be good to have more things to do, like powerups or collectibles

Developer

Thank you for playing! Resounding feedback on wanting more things to do haha

Oh my god there are dozens of ennemies as quick as me spawning from behind and beating me to a pulp!

I would have prefered a very simple intro level with very few slow ennemies so I can make sure I get the controls before the slaughtering happen. So going in that direction I would have made a wave system, so you can start easier and then go crazy and have more and taugher / quicker ennemies.

Love the mood tho. Good job!

Developer(+1)

haha sorry about that! A wave system would've been great. I've never done that before but in my head I think I can see how that could be done. My biggest worry with getting people to play it was wasting their time, so I leaned a bit further towards the "quick round" end of the scale to make sure they didn't get bored. Ideally, I could've managed that a bit better with a "tutorial" like you said, but I figured if it's so quick to restart hopefully the tutorial becomes the round you played before it.

Thanks for playing and leaving some feedback, especially about waves, that's given me food for thought.

Art and sounds are great - it is really difficult and I agree with the feedback in a lot of the other comments.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I didn't want people getting bored with 5 minute rounds. If I could've implemented some secondary features I would've made the game last longer for sure.

Submitted(+1)

It got really hard very quick. It could be nice if the player moves quicker or shoot faster. I had a lot of fun playing it and I liked how the enemies got impaled in the walls.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and leaving some feedback! I chose to make the game time  short because it'd get boring with how few mechanics there are.

Nice art and sounds! I think it might help if the player character moved a little faster, as some scenarios seemed a little too difficult to escape from, but thats a small issue that could be easily resolved. Also, nice touch making the firing sound randomized, really helped avoid the issue of it getting grating. good job!

Developer

Thanks, KingEthaniel. I was very aware that using such lo-fi approach to sound could get grating, glad the pitch shifting helped that for you. I wanted to create a force-push effect for when you get overwhelmed I just ran out of time! Thanks for playing and commenting. :)

I liked the game, I do feel that it is missing something though, like others commented some weapon pickups/upgrades would be great, maybe something that only lasts for like 5sec or something. Like an arrow that shoots through all the enemies killing them. I also liked that it was different from normal shooting games and the artwork was neat :)

Submitted(+1)

The game is fun to play. I adding enemy power up drops, health pickups and a combo system would make it even more fun.

Developer

I like the idea of pick ups with limited time effects. I also wanted to make a more interesting arena but ran out of time to do either. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

As some other people already mentioned, there are many ways of improving the game. For example, I really liked how satisfying it was to blow up multiple enemies at once when I was surrounded. However, once you move away from them, you start destroying only one of them at a time again. Adding some abilities to escape being surrounded by multiple enemies and killing more of them would really improve the game.

But overall, had a fun time playing it, I can see myself playing it more. I was worried that it would be hard to play with only touchpad, but the lack of mouse wasn't too noticeable, so good job! Visuals are on point, and sound is simple yet effective!

Developer(+1)

Wowsers, you played on a trackpad? I hated testing it on the trackpad haha

You're all spot-on about adding a way to destroy multiple enemies, I feared adding something else would've got me caught with it unfinished so I added polish with sound, screen shake and particles. :(

Thanks for playing!

The game feels fun to play, but it is hard to understand what exactly is going on. Graphics are awesome so is the sound design! Love this oldschool vibes.

Developer

Thank you, Arseny_Gar! I wanted to animate the enemies and make their spawning a lot better but the way I built it got me stuck so I think some of the game's nuance is lost, unfortunately, especially with me choosing a more abstract enemy type. My inspiration was the Atari 2600 and the C64, I tried hard to stay within those confines. Glad you enjoyed the presentation. :)

The game feels incomplete, which is understandable cause this is a game jam. It could really use more features, or coins each time you kill to buy better weapons or new skill.
Other than that, this is pretty good shooter game. It's refreshing to see something other than a spaceship. The art work is really good.

Developer

Thanks! I'm happy you found the art refreshing, I made a conscious effort there. It's not particularly obvious (due to the abstract nature of the aliens) but the enemies go through a life cycle: spawnling > infant > adult > atrophy > undead. My original idea was to make the enemies more human-like to make the life cycle more obvious but shooting babies didn't feel right. PLUS, I liked the idea of creating original enemies.

Submitted(+1)

hey great job! Shooting the enemies is pretty satisfying.

I do wish there were upgrades for the weapons that allow you to shoot burst or aoe to shoot down many enemies at once.

Developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment, daichifob.

I wanted to do an AOE force-push with right mouse button for when you get in sticky situations but had to drop it in favour of closing the loop.

Shooting multiple enemies at once is a great idea (and I like the idea of pickups around the arena to give the player more purpose in movement) but that'd create an issue in the late game. It'll require some thought on how to make both ideas work!
