Great work and I really like the character models. I could not figure out how to possess people, but luckily killing them worked to beat the game. The camera could put up a bit of a fight, but I really liked how you made things like the columns translucent when they pass between the cat and the camera. Great job!
Great game. Had a lot of fun sneaking to the Tophat guy. As others said, just some matching music would have taken it a long way. But in general, a great entry. Thanks for making it.
The at looks awesome and the game plays very well. Just missing sound and music. The font may be a little small, I battle to read it and a bug on the game over menu but otherwise great submission. Well done.
Great story. You did an awesome job with making interesting environments that conveyed what the locations are despite having very minimal detail. Great concept. Would love to see it more fleshed out and incorporating some of the mechanics mentioned in the menu.
Side note on the game over screen the menu buttons don't work.
Interesting concept, great job!
Loved the idea of the reaper's cat! a fun concept indeed, and I had fun playing it, the cat model is really cute <3 I liked the idea of the story being as a menu option at the start.
Some bugs I noticed, there was volume slider on the menu which I set to max but I wasn't able to hear any music or sounds, also on the menu after finishing the game or after getting killed the buttons didn't work for me so I had to close the game and open it again.
Great concept in general, I hope you keep working on it after the jam! :)
Thank you so much for playing! Yeah there actually isnt any volume. My next thing to implement to the game was sound and I ran out of time due to a bug I encountered. And I definitely plan on implementing sound, better visuals and a few other things.
Again, thank you so much!
Who would have thought we'd get early access to the Undead Nightmare Stray game? This is a fun little game, albeit too easy. I found myself just running around looking for the guy with the top hat. I played a couple of times and he was always in the same spot. Currently I think you have a lot of good mechanics, the possession and the form changing. They just need a reason to be used. Maybe make some areas off limits unless you possess a guard? Also the combat is too easy, I just hit them once with my tail and they are dead, which could be fine if they had guns and were pressuring me to move quickly. Maybe have an enemy with a bat that takes 2/3 hits? The blocks are there but if feels like it was just plopped in to be there, which could work if the top hat guy had alternate spawn locations. On the ending screen the buttons didn't work so I had to close it down and reopen it to play again. Also just wanted to add that the idea of a Purr Reaper is adorable, good job guys!
Undead Nightmare Stray Game is such a great description, thank you for that!
I definitely plan on adding some difficulty. There was going to be a feature where the cat cannot go in certain areas and would just be carried out of the building. IE no cats in a construction zone or an office building, however this had some bugs due to some spaghetti code as I was more focused on output vs etiquette so it had to be removed for the end result. And the same would apply to possessing a regular civilian vs an office worker. a civilian wouldn't be able to get in the office or the construction zone.
I did play with the idea of giving an armed guard that could sustain a few hits but it is being attacked by a dangerous cat with a sharp as heck blade. Definitely something to experiment with post game jam as I like the idea a lot and wanted more time with it. A lot needs to be done with this project to give it more life and more challenge and that is certainly something I plan on doing as I had a blast working on the AI of the NPCs.
And thank you! My friend was bored and drew the cat for me after I described the concept to him and he did all the 2D designs and I loved them so I modelled them!
I definitely like the cover art and the font you used. Thematically this attracted me to try out the game.
I like the concept of the game as a reaper cat and having abilities for certain actions.
Currently I just sprinted to the top floor and found they guy and killed him without any trouble.
Thematically I like the game. In game I didn't get as much game feedback to be fully amazed.
Great job creating a game and submitting!
Thank you!
Once I got the level all together, I did struggle on figuring out how to make it more of a challenge or just give more to the user experience but I think with some more polish and some reworks, I can definitely get this project to perform better and be something with more feedback.
I admit I cheated a bit, I couldn't remember the controls so I ran into the building, just started killing people with my tail, found the top hat guy and smacked him :)
I liked the way you put the story as its own menu item, and your whole set of menus looks very good.
The game work as expected, I think you should focus next on adding more art etc to the game, perhaps using a terrain with trees, grass etc and then put more models in the buildings themselves.
Its good that you got a game out there, keep going.
Thank you! Yeah I tried to plan ahead for the murder hobos but honestly, it is too much fun to kill first and ask questions later.
Thanks for the comment on the menus, I kinda took the concept from a Brackeys video and expanded it to credits et al.
Texture and terrain editing like grass and trees were on the list and I even had some models from a previous project to use but I failed to manage time, definitely a good lesson for a game jam!
This has an open world feel to it, it's a nice concept that can be expanded upon.
Some random thoughts:
Nice job! Keep at it!
I tried to give it an open world concept as I love a lot of intractions. Honestly I blame skyrim for that desire xD
I do plan on expanding on this once the jam is over, putting things in that I just ran out of time for like doors and the like.
Thank you soooo much for all the suggestions! I did run out of time for some things like the options being poorly colored but I always forget about scaling when it comes to resolution sizes as that is not really an easy thing for me to test. (and missed opportunities with the health)
And sound was downloaded but time unpermitted. Lots of things to do for this project and lots of great input!
Thanks again!
I really like the story! The art work was great too! I couldn't possess bodies, but I like the animations for the cat changing demonic and how the tail acts like a scythe. Great job!
Thank you!
Yeah the possession mechanic was a little bit buggy. I think the problem is that the collider between the possession and the corpse is not the best. So unless you are almost touching the corpse and pointed directly at them, then it wont work. Definitely some reworks to that mechanic anyway.
Thank you!
I love the idea! I wish it could have some sound
Thank you! I ran out of time but over the next few days, I plan on adding a version with sound (and keeping the original submission)
