I love the mix of creatures, there are quite alot of variations and they all look pretty cool. I was a little disappointed that it was on rails and I did end up having the game crash after my creature was knocked out the first time. But for the time frame, it's a really solid entry and captures a lot of the good feel from Pokemon.

I agree, half the fun of the pokemon games is the exploration, it was definitely a compromise haha. Thanks for playing!

The RNG was quite intresting and overall the monsters were fun to play too, sadly no music at all. It almost felt like I was speedrunning a Pokemon game with the most optimal route X)

This is the most "game boy soul" game I played in this jam haha

Developer

Thank you for saying that:)

Nice monster design.

I got stuck accessing to party.

The whole game, specially the monster design is very gameboy like :> though the effectiveness table is a bit confusing the game was pretty enjoyable overall :>

Did not expect a Pokemon game in this jam, but I'm happy there is one!
I just wish there was some music or sfx, also i wish that i could control where my character could go.
This is still neat tho!

Nice concept and nice execution ! It's a shame there's no sound.
A good experience though!

Right on, thank you!

Great game! This is an excellent foundation for a procedural Pokemon style game. The sprite work is great & fits the GB style perfectly.

Developer

Thanks for saying that, it’d be a lot of fun to expand on it. Thanks for playing!

I wish this one were more polished, I think its a really great idea and I can see it working on the original hardware! You should add more roguelike elements too!

Making a gb rom of this is an awesome idea! Maybe one of these days. Thanks for playing!

Woah cool concept, super condensed Pokemon!

Developer

Thanks for checking it out!

Visually it looks really good, it really feels like playing the original Pokemon Red/Blue! Although the gameplay is really fun, it feels a bit unbalanced. On my first run I got a creature that basically shred trough everything, and on my second attempt I could barely get past the first battle. Pretty fun and original concept, but the lack of sound made the experience a lot worse for me.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for saying that! But yeah could have used a bit more balancing. Super effective moves tend to one hit KO haha. Thanks for playing!

The idea of procedurally generating these monsters is interesting. Graphics are faithful to the era and setting.

On my first run, I got Neothodon. Only one of its abilities does any damage, and not very much--it's very hard to win a battle with this as your first monster.

Not sure if there was sound; I didn't get any when I played.

Also, when I brought up "Party" in the menu the game crashed for me.

I definitely wish I took some extra time to create music for the game. Thank you for playing!

i had the same problem. I left the music to the end and then didn't have time for music during the main game!
