How does your game match the theme?
I chose 2 definitions for space, first space as in literal outer space, but with alien civilization and humanity together, with space tech and stuff.
Then for the next definition of space, in the game, the protag has an "empty space" in his heart, and he has to either fill it with revenge or freedom.

I quite enjoyed that. Navigating as I desperately try to avoid getting gunned down by turrets and drones. It felt damn dangerous, especially with the limited ammo count. My only gripe was I got lost after the first teleporter. Nice game mate.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! And thanks for the feedback abt the teleporter!

You're welcome mate

I like the way you started the game off, playing as the antagonist then the protagonist. That's a unique way to introduce the game. Solid dungeon crawler/shooter, the art is great and the music fits alongside the gameplay well.

Thank you!

Strong artwork, competent mechanics, great ludonarrative. Easily one of my favorites.

Only criticism is that the audio is a bit loud. When several pairs of robot fire + player fire + music stack on top of each other, the audio often peaked above +0.0 dB.

Fantastic! Great work!

Developer(+1)

Oh thanks for the feedback on the audio! I'll keep that in mind when I make other games or update this one. But thanks for playing my game!

One of my favorites in the jam so far (and I've played almost 60).

Solid action. Very clear graphics (never easy with a 4-color palette!). Utterly ROCKING soundtrack. Fun story.

I wasn't sure if there was any way to acquire different weapons or ammo. Regardless, I was able to beat the game (Ending 2) with just my initial ammo.

I'm fascinated by the pseudo-3D environment (a la Scarab of RA and other classics). How did you create it?

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I'm glad you really enjoyed the game and even soundtrack! There's no other weapons and ammo tho. And as for the pseudo-3D environment, I actually just used 3D with a blend of 2D stuff haha.

Ha, brilliant.

Oh and this is unrelated but now I know why your username looks quite familiar, you're also in one jam I joined last year, the "Themed Horror Game Jam 6". Nice seeing you again! I'm gonna try your game if I have time

Submitted(+1)

Aha, awesome! It's nice to be remembered.

If you enjoyed The Gnawing Hunger, Dagger's Last Testament actually takes place in the same futuristic neo-feudalist universe.

This was my first time playing a 1st person maze game so I am very thankful for the map it helped a lot. I was shocked by the ending of the first level. Played through it 2 times to get both endings.  I had fun with this one.

Developer

Thank you! Good thing I made a minimap (although buggy).

Your cover art really drew me in. Was a really fun concept. I think it was a tad on the difficult side. It was unintuitive to not be able to shoot enemies right away. But it was pretty solid overall. The news report after the first section really got me.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I knew about the not-being able-to-shoot-enemies-right-away part, but I didn't have time to put in extra code for that. If I have time and if I want to, maybe I should make a post-jam version next time, but idk. And thanks for liking the cover art!

The shade of red used makes it feel like part VirtualBoy lol. I liked what I saw, and I feel there's some room for more mechanics in the the enemy's vulnerability timing if you were to expand on it

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

Cool art and story, quite enjoyed this, have not seen many first person games in the jam yet :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! I was worried how the first person parts would turn out cus it was confusing for some when playtesting but I'm glad you enjoyed

This was amazing, the mix of story into the gameplay really made this stand out. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Most of my games so far are story based so I just did what I was used to, but next time I hope to make a game where it's more gameplay and fun, but I'm glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

The gameplay was fun, but the story really elevated it, keep it up!!
