Pretty great and juicy game! I got stuck in one of the later levels so I can't give a complete review but this is neat game and I really liked the creative mechanics involved. I think with a little more graphical polish as well as making sure the audio loops, this could be a game I come back to. Congrats on finishing for the jam !

Thanks! :D

Juicy and fun!!  Challenging too!!    Love the concept -really cool approach to platforming -awesome job! :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! :D

The concept is very interesting and the execution is really nice! Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I appreciate it!

The level design is very interesting, which makes this game quite fun to play!

Kind of wish there is background art so it can give more mood to the game, or maybe just simply use some readily available shader effect on shadertoy.com might be a good idea.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback!

I haven't really worked with shaders yet, probably going to look into that next, thanks for the suggestion!

I try hard to finish every game but eventually gave up on what i assume was one of the last levels, where you start in the bottom left, there's an enemy in the bottom right, and the top half is split vertically by a dark grey bar with an opening at the top. Just couldn't for the life of me figure out how to solve it.  I did think the game started off strong, though I do think the movement was slower than felt good and i don't think it would've upset the balance too much to speed up the player and maybe the teleporter too.

One thing that confused me is with a controller plugged in, mouse and keyboard controls didn't work. They seemed to map fine on my controller so I played it that way. Hope that didn't meaningfully change my experience of it! I think a little more speed and juice would do wonders, but overall it's a solid game for a jam and something to be proud of! :)

Thank you for your feedback!

The game should be completely playable with a controller, I just didn't have enough time to test it so I never bothered explaining the controls.

The level you're speaking of I think is level 6/10, but I could be wrong. It's not even one of the harder ones πŸ˜…, there's still a lot of game to go from that point (it's a hard game!!) If you want to see the solution theres a full walkthrough on the game page.

Thanks for playing! :)

I don't think you link to it on the game page, but found it on your youtube. It was level 8, though I can see how you would think 6 based on my description

Gj for submitting. Pretty hard to handle the movements and when to use the skills.
Nice game anyway :)

Thank you! :D

It was a very fun experience. The level design is really good and the concept I think would make for a good puzzle game. Although everything is very simple, I had a blast playing and killing the enemies were very satisfying. Something you can maybe improve on is the art and sound since it's pretty repetitive and there is a lot of room to polish this game up. But considering you only had like a week, it was very well done, keep it up!

Thank you so much! :D

That's a simple concept, but the level design really shines ! I had to stop on some levels to think about a good order to do things, it's closer to a puzzle game than a platformer, I like it !

For the things you could improve, I think you could increase a bit the range of the attack, it feels way smaller than the slash effect, I often lost because of it. And the targets look like spikes, at first I thought I had to avoid them instead of attacking them.

Thank you for your feedback!

You're not the first one to think that the enemies have contact damage, I'm definitely going to keep that in mind for next time.

I like the concept very much, level design is great as well but you shouldn't hide the cursor because it is so frcking annoying when you lose because you didn't know that your mouse is on the other side of the screen and remember ALWAYS MAKE LOCK ON CURSOR BECAUSE ELSE I'LL FIND YOU AND I'LL KICK YOUR ASS, or at least give the player option to change it, kissess

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the review and the feedback! And omg I'm so sorry I did not think about that problem when I decided that the cursor should be hidden lol. I was just like "you don't really use the cursor and it breaks the immersion a bit so I'll just hide it". I'll definetly keep it on the center of the screen or at least give an option to re-enable it from now on (definetly don't want my ass kicked).

Cool game!

I did end up low-key ragequitting (as I'm not a fan of platforming, and the jumps seem to be almost barely reachable), but I think the concept is really cool!

I also like the more "non-traditional" hand painted art style, and I think with more time the game would look very visually appealing.

I think the main thing I found lacking, was the amount of juice.  Consider adding more screenshake and particles in the future for a really spicy feel :)

Good game!

Thank you for your review!

With the time constraint I had to make decisions and cut a bunch corners. Unfortunately Juice was one of the corners I had to half-ass if I wanted to make something decent. Although I did make sure at least the movement and the jump have a nice and smooth feel.

it's good idea. i like it.

Developer

Thank you! :D

Love the mechanics, it was just a bit weird how slow movement was when the whole concept is revolved around only having 5 seconds to beat a level.

Speaking of levels, you're really good at level design! I felt like I was pretty effectively taught how to use the mechanics, and in ways, I wouldn't have otherwise thought of too! All without being told! In other words, peak game design™

Definitely improve on your art skills or work with an artist in the future and I think you've got some good games ahead of you

Developer

Thank you for your review and the feedback!
Definietly the plan was not to do this alone, but unfortunately the rest of my team couldn't make it. Sometimes you gotta improvise with what little you have.

I thought the concept was fun but I can't try it, it seems the game doesn't scale well on 21/9 monitors. (I don't see the bottom of the screen where the character is supposed to be). :'(

The idea sounded nice though!

Dammit, I'm so sorry. Maybe I could hit you up with a download link where it should run while windowed (I'm not sure if it's allowed to change the page after the jam deadline).

Submitted

I would be glad to try it out this way.
If its just changing the resolution... I guess it should be okay. But it'd be better to ask to the mods if it is allowed, just in case.

Developer

Here's a Mega link t a new windowed version https://mega.nz/file/Vg1HiSBC#qGqut021soeOFKSnU3pupc26IFzjg8ffXCsUXmud8zU
You should be able to resize the window to your heart's content. I hope you can finally play the game and have som fun :D

OK so i was able to try it!

The concept is really cool. The level design is excellent, the mechanics work well. Also you did a lot of levels!

If you work on the visuals and the audio (and juice!!), it has some really good potential! (but I guess you focused more on the level design, seeing how well-thought it was done).

Well played! :)
