Very unique idea blending a tower defense game with a platformer! The cutscene, art, sound, etc are amazing and fit the mood really well. As others stated the collisions and jumping was a little funky on the platforms. Including a tutorial was very helpful. Overall a very polished and well put together game nice work!
The game is very attractive visually. The music and sound is amazing. The main idea is also very cool.
The game is fun to play and hard too.
Cons: Sometimes is hard to land on the platforms, the keys for controlling the character are a bit odd placed.
A "View Map" option would be nice, so you can survey the area before the timer, but maybe the intentions was for it to be this hard. So in that case it's cool
A very clever take on the theme! I really enjoyed it.
Everything felt well polished and the tutorial was a nice addition, too! I would have loved to see some more levels but even what you have here is some really great work.
One thing that would have improved the gameplay would have been platforms which are passable from below. I guess my piggy has some huge bumps on the head right now :D
Good job!
This was a fun idea and a fun game.
Nice Work!Cons:
You'd get stuck on walls a lot, which made it more difficult than some of the puzzles.
I felt like right when you get a feel of the game it's over. I would have loved to have more levels.
Pros:
Great art/animations
Great sounds
Good controls other than the sticky walls
Fun concept and difficult enough to require a few attempts before success
Question: You're the bad guy, but you're trying to stop some human from getting into the warthog princesses' castle? That was a bit confusing.
HAhaha yea the story was definitely lacking…
My vague idea was that we were luring the hero with the princess as ‘bait’, but we couldn’t find an actual princess so we just put one of the minions in a dress. Needs some work :P
Great use of the theme in this clever twist on tower defense. A good choice of artwork, soundtrack & SFX, and even a tutorial help make it feel like a complete and polished game.
All it's missing is a variable jump mechanic and pass-through platforms to allow the player to fully leverage the level design, as currently it can be a little frustrating.
Great work nonetheless, and congrats on the Play Store release! :D
it honestly plays more like a puzzler platformer for me at least because you have to get the placement right for the stuff to get the dude. I think the game could really use a reset level button for when you realize your stuff didn't get him. and the timer makes, the kinda unforgiving platforming, and the limited stuff to put down doesn't really make it feel like a defense game which is what i thought it was going to be a reimaging of that said thats not a bad thing because that might not be what you were going for. it feels like im more raceing to answer a puzzle that is very rigid and hard to read. for example sometimes it seemed like the canon did 1 heart other it did 3/4ths. I really like the chill music and the art and sound effects are super adorable :D
This is fantastic, but why did you use ASWD controls? !?! Arrow keys, space to jump, enter to drop items, its a really fun game idea with lots of room for expansion!
Really great idea and nice blend between two genres. Would have loved to see a little bit of polish like being able to jump up through platforms. With some work and more levels, I could see this doing well on mobile.
I think it is an awesome idea but needs some polishment in the initial levels, which are a little too hard for the first ones.
I don't like the fact that sometimes I cannot place the traps and it doesn't give me feedback on the reason it is not allowed, and how weird is the jump cause I get stuck everywhere.
Well done.
This is a really awesome game, well done!
What I liked:
Loved the little grunts from the pig as you moved him, the sense of humor that came across through the art, music, scenario, and little princess pig.
The opening cinematic was a great way to start and serve as an introduction to the concept.
The dialogue was great, and the way it was animated.
Also, an interesting mix of the tower defense and platforming genres (some strategy as well as skill), and interesting reversal of the "save-the-princess" roles.
The game felt very polished - not many bugs and everything (art, gameplay, music, sfx) blended together well.
What I'd liked to see added/adjusted:
A "restart" button! especially when I was struggling with the 3rd tutorial, it got a bit frustrating waiting for the hero to complete his route when I knew that I had already messed up.
It was not clear to me through the tutorials that, in order to beat the levels, I was expected to place the cannon, let it fire a couple of times, and then pick it up again and replace it. I struggled for a while on the 3rd tutorial because of this. When I realized I could move the cannon during the run, I felt like it was a hack and not expected of me, but after I played a few more levels, it seems like it is? I think that comes from me used to playing conventional tower defenses where placement of the towers is final. Since you're subverting this mechanic (in a cool way) I think it'd be worth making that very clear to the player in the tutorials (I know Jack says you can pick up and re-place the blocks, but that didn't get through to silly me)
It looked a little buggy when I'd run into the hero - it seemed like I'd teleport to somewhat random point in the air? And a couple times, I'd go completely off the map to a black screen.
Thanks for the comments MurphysDad, really glad you enjoyed it!
100% agree with your points to improve on, a restart button is a great idea and I see what you mean regarding you get hit by the hero, I think what happened there was we didn't look at it long enough to think "Oh that's a bit jarring" :'D I can definitely see your point on making it clearer that you can pick up towers and that it is in fact part of the gameplay experience.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, really appreciate it!
