I think this was all really engaging story wise and the sitting and listening to open things up was a good mechanic. The dialog was well written, it invoked some emotions in me.. Obwohl mein deutsch ist sehr schlecht, I played the German version too.
I love the atmosphere and lighting effects! The music and sound effects were on point as well, and the story was very moving and I found it very introspective. Really enjoyed this one, only criticism is that there are no wall collisions, if that is on purpose, the path is kind of pointless and I think the level design needs to be reworked. Other than that, great game, hope it does really well in the final rankings.
I have to say, the story in this one is probably one of the best I've seen from this jam so far. The only thing I had problems with is that the immersion gets broken sometimes by a couple bugs, like for example you can talk during scene transitions, and the scene transition is a bit too small so I can see the top of the level, and you can also go out of bounds. I actually was a bit confused at first because I couldn't find the yellow guy, but after I found him I got the hang of it. Great job on this one.
You captured the atmosphere for the game perfectly. The lighting was done really well and I particularly liked the whispering
Thanks I had a lot of fun with this one :)
This was very nice. I liked the message of how important it is to listen to others, and how life passes you by if you are not careful. Being able to reunite the family and then reconcile with my friend made me really happy. The environment and music were also really good. I like how you can tell such a nice story with only shapes :)
It looks good but I don't know if it worked properly for me. I might have been able to go trough the walls if there even were any.
I played in Chrome just to see and it looked and ran beautifully. I'll try a download build later to see the difference, but this was a wonderful experience.
I think the sound design is top notch and for a game without art, it sure is beautiful! I like the subtlety of the story, the chapter breakouts and the achievements felt so good as a gamer. I do think you should have collisions with the walls because I thought I was really clever with "listen to the darkness" so I thought going off the game path and toward the darkest part of the screen I would find some unlock or new story, but then I came back and read Spoonsweet's comment and your reply and realized the path is the intended path and just to stay in bounds.
I agree you need a spacebar prompt to interact, when I ran the game I was taken away from the itch.io page so I had to check again to see if there was a button prompt for dialogue. After that it was a wonderful experience.
Are there multiple endings? I thought I was supposed to be finding the ball and uniting the father and son with it, but then I ran into, I guess "her", and then we made up and the game concluded.
Really impressive entry. Such a great experience and just the right length. And you provide two language options!! Great work, as always.
the collisions didn't work for the firefox version, just went exploring from one off-screen light to the other. Found some dudes to speak to, really liked the whispering you added, and the effects of the flickering lights. Must have been a pain doing it in two languages!
lol I didnt add level collisions. I thought that might be a bad move, but I kinda didnt want to limit the player to the level but let them explore the void :P I wont do that again.
Did you make it to the end?
haha, I know that feeling! I have tried it as well :D Doesn't work out unless you do actually have something in the void.
I found the old man, and the angry boy. But then got lost from the top left light to the bottom right. It was a long walk, that I had done three times before I realised I can speak with SPACE to the lights. So after 2 minutes of void I gave up...
hmmm yea makes sense. I should have maybe made sure people dont stray from the path… I thought by having a path at all that was obvious enough.
Ok and a text prompt for the space bar. Noted.
