I hate Simon 3333:<

Mixing a platformer with an isometric point of view is an interesting idea. The only problem was that jumping on the platforms was really difficult to time, and moving was a little confusing. I was stuck on level 3 for sooooooo long, and even though I wanted to give up, I still did it. However a few things I liked are the music, the concept, and the funny little speech bubbles. One thing that was really annoying though was having to go push the button after every attempt. I really can't think of a good way to fix that problem except to maybe put the button right in front of the player in the beginning. Overall, I still had fun, so nice work. And why do we hate Simon so much? what did he ever do to us? We are the ones that brutally murder him after every level.

Developer

Good point there! maybe we are all Simon, and we hate each other! -

On matters related to the game, mixing iso with platformer was more complicated than what I thought. I spent a looott of time just to get a "decent" collision detection for when the player lands on the lava.

I decided to add the button just for the player to drag the attention to the TV screen while the pattern was shown, I could have place it in a better position though.

Many thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it. And I am glad you enjoy the game :)

I really love the idea of a Simon Says themed game. The isometric graphics were really cool, there was some funny dialogue, and the music was very good, and the gameplay loop was really creative! But my main problem is the character controls, which weren’t the best. Jump was more of a float, so it was hard to land on moving platforms. There were also some bugs with character movement that made it very difficult to play. Overall, I liked it even if there were problems. There are a lot of great things about it.

Developer

I couldn't agree more with you! The movement of the main character is quite clunky. There is definitely room for improvement :). Thanks for the comment

Pretty much what @Frelude already said: Isometric isn't a good fit for a platformer, and because of that (and ledge that shouldn't stop you if you're in the air, but they did anyway) every jump was hard, even the easier ones. I also struggled with grasping the directional controls.

Other than that, this is a good take on the theme, and the game was (excluding all the struggle i had) pretty fun!!

PS. Simon may be a dick now, but in the end it's just a misunderstood guy.  Try to show him some love, and know him a bit, and i'm sure it'll open up... Eventually :P

Thank you for the feedback! I understand the struggle of the jumping mechanic, my main intention was not to have it that difficult, but my knowledge limitations forced me to compromise some aspects of the movement mechanic.

Also, Simon.... Is... Like... Umm.... Not a nice guy.

Isometric view is not known to be easy for platformers. I had a hard time with jump, even with the good platform. Simple take on the theme, but it works. Well done.

Developer

Thanks for the comment! And yes iso-platformer is hard (I don't think I'm doing than again xD) I spent probably 70% of the time figuring out issues with 2Dcolliders and raycast detection, just to get it working on a decent matter.

Good job! You definitely covered the themes. Not so sure I hate Simon that much though. Seems like a nice guy.  Maybe a little rude but I bet he'd be nicer once we got to know each other :)

Developer

Good luck trying to get to know Simon, he is pretty difficult to talk to! Thanks for the commen :)

Really interesting game and amazed how you could make a game that complex in this amount of time. Would you mind rating my game links down below. Thanks
