Great graphics! Playing the web version - chrome on linux (debian, mint flavour), I was unable to interact with anything but doors.
I really liked the 3D character and environment art! The time reversal was also very impressive, and I'm curious to know how you implemented it! So I rated you guys well on Innovation and Visuals.
However, the rest of the game needs work. The navmesh player movement made it difficult to navigate properly. I also found it difficult to determine exactly what I had to do to solve the mystery. I tried spilling Catgalf's bowl of poison food, but it doesn't seem to register. I fed the monster plant the sleeping pills, made an antidote, and picked up a glass of sparkly water, but couldn't seem to progress. On my third or so playthrough, I seemed to have gotten stuck in a weird game state where all the cat wizards stand frozen over the dead Catgalf, and nothing seems to be happen until I lose the game at midnight.
It needs a lot of work to improve the movement and give it a proper game loop that the player can identify. I think you should continue to work on and improve it. Best of luck!
Thank you!! I loved the art that Xeila and Diego made too :P And thanks about the time reversal mechanic (we already talked about it on Discord)! We ran out of time, but we are going to fix the bugs and the NavMesh and add more features after the jam ends =) We'll also add a more complete tutorial and remove some cats' randomness to create a proper game loop as you said ;)
Nice visuals, but I couldn't follow exactly what I was supposed to do. The text is a little unclear and dark in the beginning. Otherwise I like the art and graphic style, it controls well. It would be interesting to see if you had time to turn it into a mobile application. I think it would do well there if you could refine it further. Also, well done in making this in one week.
Thank you very much! Yes, we thought the same about the text, and tested different colors with no improvements at all, but we got no time to switch the TextMesh with a Canvas with a translucent panel with the text on it. We'll do it when we re-upload the game after the voting period ends =) We'll think about the mobile application too. So thank you for your feedback!
When I saw this game at first I was really enamoured by the concept and art style. The visuals are wonderful and cute, and I would like to know more about this cat chrono-mage universe!
However, maybe it's because I'm not so great at these types of games, but I would have actually liked a detailed text tutorial before playing. It's a kind of game that's so slow paced, you can really get away with just explaining stuff rather than "showing". I felt really lost when I left the starting room, wandered for 15 minutes following the sick cat, and then just closed the game. Sorry!
The movement was pretty annoying for me sometimes as well; I would have loved to just used arrow keys or something, as the point and click system often made me go completely the wrong way, and getting close enough to something to invoke the interact prompts took upward of 10 seconds of nudging sometimes.
The audio was fine too; I didn't really notice any sound effects at all, but the music was endearing and fit really well with the game, thematically and aesthetically.
A really great effort and submission; all it needs is some hand-holding near the start for the less-experienced like myself, and it would be a killer game! Very cute. :D
Please let me know if you plan on building this out further, I'd be interested in following development.
Thank you very much!! Sorry, we got some last minute bugs that kind of ruin the gameplay a bit for some players ^^ Also, you are right about the tutorial, we are going to add a more complete one and decrease the randomness in the cats' actions to make it more fluid. Thanks for your feedback, it's really helpful as we continue working on the game to upload a better version after the voting period ends ;)
The game is visually amazing and I love the concept but I was very confused about the gameplay and what to do in the game. Also wish I could use WASD to move.
Thanks for your comment! The movement was at the very first with WASD, but since you have to use the mouse to look for and interact with objects, we changed it. But when adding the decoration, our NavMesh became way too complex. We ran out of time, but we are going to fix the bugs and the NavMesh and add more features (and a more complete tutorial) after the jam ends =)
Thank you very much for your feedback! We ran out of time, but we are going to fix the bugs and the NavMesh and add more features after the jam ends =) We are thinking on adding a more complete tutorial, and also making that the psycho cats try to kill Catgalf at a certain hour (instead of totally random, as it is now). Do you think that would make the gameplay less repetitive? Thanks again <3
