This was really nicely put together. I liked the use of story to drive the gameplay. I think I got stuck pretty early on but it was still fun.
Thanks for playing!
At first I didn't understand the point of leaving robots behind and why we had 3 different variants. That was before picking up the keys... Once the lights turned off I was immediately lost and was hit with a realization of how foolish I was! haha I made on attempts of remembering my surroundings and died immediately. The next round I placed my robots carefully planning each jump with different colours indicating when to jump and where to land. Very engaging game with a story at the start! Well done on this :)
Aha! I'm glad the "oh sh*t I can't see any more" effect was made. Thanks for playing the game I'm glad it was a fun experience!
It was a challenging experience. I liked the intro a lot. It was classic in a good way. I found myself not that engaged with the black out platforming mechanic, but I expect that is more to do with my own preferences than any fault of the game. Good job
The intro was really fun to do! It was my first attempt at it and it was done completely in code because Unreal doesn't allow for 2D Sequencing, but overall was really fun to do. Thanks for playing!
very interesting and enjoyable game. I liked that you kinda had to plan out your route and leave your robots in strategic places to aid you in your path. Good Job!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This was fun! I liked the mechanic of leaving the robot buddies behind as guides and markers to help you when the lights shut off, and the platforming was simple, but still fun, with the darkness adding a good bit of challenge to it. I had initially thought that the robot's colors would make them do different things, but when I realized that wasn't the case I was able to use the different colors to mark out different things, like blue for being at the edge of a pit, and green being safe. I agree with another comment that adding different effects could have been cool, and that the art styles clashed a little bit due to the assets used, but it wasn't so jarring that I was really paying attention after the cutscene ended.
I'm not sure whether this was just on my end or not, but there had been no music playing during the cutscene. Let me know if it just glitched out for me! I think music there would have been nice, and also that an ending cutscene could have been good as well (again, if there was supposed to be one and it just glitched out for me, do let me know!)
Overall, it was a nice little platformer, and I had a good time. Good job!
Ah yes I did indeed forget to add music to the cutscene. I couldn't find anything that I liked so I just decided to leave it silent.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time for an end cut scene but the idea I had was pretty cool, after completing all the levels, the player would reappear behind the boss of the cutscene and just go Psyche I tricked you and then in a grandiose way explain that the robots he used were actually bombs that would explode in his command. The player would then leave, walk-in slomo, put her glasses on and an epic YEAH would play as the villain's lair gets blown to smithereens!
On another note, THANKS FOR PLAYING MY GAME!!
A very cool game that will make you think how am I going to pass through this level. The concept of leaving something behind to guide you to the exit is really clever. However, the jump once is so weird for a jump. Releasing a jump based on the current concept of the game is weird but yeah maybe that is the way it is designed. Would also be cool if the robots have their own super unique abilities and are limited to make it even more challenging.
Overall, great job and this game is so nice to play. :D
Thanks for checking the game out!
Yep the jump mechanic was a little weird, I've just fixed it, no more release to jump YAY!
On the subject of the Robots having their own unique ability...
OMG YES having their own abilities would be really cool I can think of a couple especially for when extra content gets added like enemies or traps!
I realy liked where this was going. The use of the theme is great, my reaction was legit "oh wow, I like that, thats a cool idea".
Only a few things let this game down for me. The jumping was a little hard to get used to. I'm more used to game where you jump when you press the button, I got it was a hold and release eventually but I did die alot in the early game because of it. The art stlye was a little all over the place, I guess due to the assets used. It did "fit" but I could tell something was off. Though the character choice was super cool, I really liked the character avatar. Other than that the only other killer issue was that I could just endlessly spawn bots and litter my path. I felt like it should be restricted to make it more of a challenge.
Still a really good entry that I had a lot of fun with, well done xD
Thanks for giving the game a go!
The feedback was super useful and you touched on some really good points.
I do agree that the jump mechanic is a little weird so it's something I fixed in the most recent polish of the game.
Also, I can't believe I didn't think of the possibility of cluttering the level with robots so I've added some code to clean that up a little bit.
I love this it was beautiful and really interesting to play, I loved the art style and the music. Great job.
Thanks for playing I'm glad you enjoyed it!
