I put this game in my best games of the jam collection. The atmosphere is great. Combat is juicy. The mechanic is elegant. Everything looks great because the designer has a clear knowledge of color and mood. The game is relaxing yet requires attention at the same time. The soundtrack is also super gorgeous.
Timing is everything for this game. Maybe so animation for the samurai would be great. Nice background sound.
Everything is great except for one thing... POOR ANIMALS ;u;
I felt really bad killing the animals. gave me quite some discomfort. might've been better to kill bad monsters or something (I was okay killing the rats and spiders but don't tell those creatures I said that)
But yes... very great game! One of the best I've played so far
Very original game ,with a clever use of the theme .I felt really bad for these poor animals .
Good game !
The definition of a zen game, lay back wait and be precise, enjoy the lovely music as you wait for those pig to align and swoosh, bacon served. Not a game for vegetarians but surely a game for me.
Mechanics wise other things to do would be nice but i think most of the time budget was spent on the nice models and tought to achive perfect slicing of the animals which is nothing to scoff to, the hard work shows.
Theme, one slice is all you get and perfection costs, it works to its detriment sometimes resetting the whole game before you can now the pattern of the animals so it gets easier the more you play.
Originality, very original there is not a game even close to this concept and delivers on what it promises for sure.
Really nice idea. Great work!
Very beautiful, atmospheric game with fun, yet brief gameplay. Would make a great mobile game.
Nice music and interesting gameplay
I really liked the chill atmosphere and the silliness of cutting all these animals cleanly in half, but I just wish that you didn't have to restart each time you failed. It made it a lot more frustrating then it should have been, which was compounded by some input lag that I experienced occasionally.
Simple concept as an interpretation of the theme and executed really well! I kind of like how chill it is while I'm casually measuring out how to slice animals literally in half. I like the design of each level/pattern, it went in a suitable complexity progression. I experienced some slowdown here (probably due to my potato computer), but it made the game a bit easier for me so that's fine clearly :P
In chrome there is a setting "use hardware acceleration when available" if you use chrome, make sure you have that checked. Other browsers may have some equivalent. I'm interested to know if the desktop version is laggy for you as well since I haven't done much performance testing. Thanks for the feedback and don't forget to leave a rating if you haven't already.
The music is great on this one :)
very cool graphics.
The rats ran away before I could analyse their pattern though :/
Why does it always have to be rats?
Genuinely love the grim comedy of a swordsman splitting random animals in half in an otherwise idyllic world set to super chill music. Only thing it's missing is abundant blood spray from the halves.
Have to echo what Allifeur said, I wish I didn't have to redo everything after missing a slice!
Thanks for the review. I wish I had added multiple lives now thinking about it
It's a really sweet idea, mixing observation with a timing challenge!
But you decided to make it a scoring game which doesn't fit in my opinion.
It leaves a frustrating gameplay that forces you to redo challenges you already know over and over again. What's interesting is finding the right time, not doing accomplished levels again and again.
I decided this would be the best thing to do for the game jam. If I was trying to make a great game with infinite time it wouldn't be like this, but with the time I had I could only make a very limited amount of content so I ended up adding a looping mechanic. I would have loved to add variance the the animations as well given the time but making a game in 48 hours comes with its limitations. I didn't do this instead of making more content, this was an extremely easy thing to do technically, while adding another zone can take an hour depending on the number of animations + background decoration. Thanks for the review.
The game is really pretty, I like it a lot. I found it chellenging but really fits the theme
Thanks so much
