Hey there, I played through some of your game in this video at around 34:55

I'll admit I couldn't get too far, but hopefully the video is helpful to see how some people will play it.

This is a really cool looking game, especially for your first gamejam! There's always stuff that ends up not making it into the submission.

In terms of fitting the theme, the one light thing doesn't seem to really affect the gameplay all that much. You could have lit the entire map normally and the game would be mostly the same.  I think ideally, the "only one" feature should be implemented such that if it were removed, the game wouldn't be the same any more.

Also, I didn't realise you could hide from the ghost in the hole, so I kept getting killed by the ghost.

Great job on your first jam, hope you had fun! :)

Neat little game :) You dont really have to implement more mechanics! Maybe refine more what is now? You could store the story bits as backdrop in the background. After all, the atmosphear is already great - could need a few more soundeffects!

I actually got goosebumps from this one. Just wish I got a bit of a heads up when the monster was coming (like the sound of footsteps) so I could have some time to look for a hiding spot instead of almost always dying as soon as it appears.

The art is amazing, though the control of the skeleton completely does not match the movement. This ruins the experience a bit, also would be great to have at least a little bit of tutorial as I did not read the description before and thus had no idea what to do :D.

Developer

Yeah I know. In future I'll be expanding this game and my first goal is to create good feeling player controller. Thanks for playing. If you are interested you can follow me on itch.io.

Cool enough game. A little light on the jam's theme (pun intended). Artwork, especially the colour palette was great. Nice work!

This game has a pretty usual concept, but it's not bad. There are two major problems:

  1. Level design and game play are boring, because I didn't have any interesting interactions via light.
  2. The movement. Default movement kills the feeling that I'm playing as skeleton. It's awkward and feels like default controller.

Anyway, keep trying and improve your skills further!

I liked the audio playing in the background, gave it a good vibe.

Edit: and by good i mean scary

Developer (3 edits) (+1)

Audio is the only thing that i didn't do myself. It's just some free commercial use . I didn't have enough time to do my own 8 bit scary music. Thanks for playing. If you're interested then you can follow me on itch.io. I'll be expanding this game.

EDIT: There aren't  sounds of monster, player or objects. It's just due to lacking time.

Everything has been drawn well ( I'm a sucker for good pixel art XD ). I like the idea as well. Of course it seems to be a little lacking in content with only that one light.......but either way, it's a great game man. Always nice to see a stealth-like game.

Developer

Yeah I know it's lacking gameplay. It's my first game jam and I didn't manage time to implement more mechanics. Thanks for playing. If you're interested then you can follow me on itch.io. I'll be expanding this game.

Simple concept, and stressful as HELL! Nicely done.
Even if you fell short on time, the potential is here.

I love your art! The skeleton is cool and the ghosts are creepy! Nice aesthetic!

Developer

Thanks for playing.

Nice platformer!

Not knowing where the ghost is makes it a little bit depressing. Offten you can't even try to hide.

Great art, very punishing

Very atmospheric, though having to go all the way from the beginning was a pain.

Developer

Thanks for playing.

Submitted(+1)

The sound effects and lighting made for an atmospheric experience, although the beginning section could have been a bit shorter, as the player is sent there each time they die.

Thanks for playing.

It's a beautifull game, love the concept! It's gameplaywise not the best but still verry fun, Great job!

Developer(+1)

Yeah I know gameplay isn't very good. I didn't have enough time to expand gameplay mechanics.

Submitted(+1)

The game is atmospheric, pixel art is nice. The game could use some in game instructions.
