Nice little game. Loved the graphic style (and the hard work into drawing them).
Nice ui, letting you know which system is compromised by the AI.
I wish the AI can take over 2 systems at once, but i guess it will just be too difficult.
One time the AI took over the beeps and boops and when i take back control i punish it by spamming spacebar. have i gone mad?
Thanks for the feedback! I tested the idea of the AI hacking 2 systems at once early on, but that made it almost unplayable. And yes, rapid-fire beeping is a perfectly valid way to assert dominance.
Overall a nice little game. I really dig how you make sure the player know the control before starting the game, so great on that.
Game is a bit to easy though, even with the random jump. Like after a while, I just died on purpose because there was nothing new coming in and there was nothing to grind for like a high score.
Anyway, really cool that you did music and art on top of the code. So yeah prompt to you !
This is pretty neat! I love how the lights on the UI unambiguously tell you what you don't have control over. Maybe I got lucky, but it seemed like the AI mostly kept swapping between controling the music & the beeping and booping, so it rarely bothered my play much lol.
If I were to make a suggestion for the game, it would be to add some sort of points system or win state. There wasn't any indication that I was doing well other than the spike balls spawn rate very gradually increasing.
Great stuff! =)
I agree, a scoring system would have been a great addition. Some kind of queue to prevent the AI from doing the same things over and over would probably have helped too, glad you enjoyed it regardless!
totally worth the time, enjoyed playing it, awesome polishing
Thank you!
Yeah, I originally planned to have some way to counter the AI's interference but it ultimately fell outside of the project's scope. Thanks for the suggestion!
This game makes me go YES! Nice game!
This comment makes me go YES! Thanks for playing!
When the theme was released I was worried that many games would be made along the lines of "Lose control at random moments". I genuinely thought that these mechanics would be annoying, but your game has proven me wrong.
I enjoy how by removing certain elements causes you to change your play style a lot, like when you lose control of shooting you focus more on dodging or losing control of aim makes you need to time your shots.
Further improvements could possibly be having sound be a part in knowing what or where obstacles are coming from.
Overall really good! Lots of potential for a larger project.
Wow, thanks for the feedback! I didn't have much time to playtest during the jam so I'm genuinely relieved to hear that my game is not annoying.
I usually have a problem with the games being too hard for me, however this time around, I find a bit too easy funnily enough.
I enjoyed it though! I really liked the presentation, with the controls at the bottom, the addition of suddenly dropping the music is genius! It's such a simple addition, but it enhances the feel of the game. I wonder which other game aspects you might couple into the AI's subroutines that you could switch on and off?
The game is too easy for sure, that's what I get for not playtesting until after submitting. I'm glad you liked the music thing, it was a last minute addition but I like how it turned out.
fun overall
That's good to hear, thank you!
Really nice visual style! Would like to see this scaled up even more with more controls you have to manage. Fun game!
Glad you liked it! I wanted to keep things simple for the jam, but I would love to add more controls in the future.
No problem - it will be cool to see what the next iteration looks like! Would love your feedback on our game as well. SpaceBus
OMG, at first I was thinking how did this game fit the theme, but then I lost control over everything. Great game. Very fun.
Nice, that's the experience I was going for. Thanks for playing!
Simple and fun! Also loved the style.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Very well visually presented and satisfying to play, the in-game button display is amazing! Gameplay wise it needs a bit faster difficulty ramp, bigger playing area and a few different monsters.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to address these problems if I update the game later.
Nice art style! Are the interactions of the AI purely random, or is it based on enemy presence?
Thank you! Yes, the AI interactions are completely random.
Could use some kind of difficulty ramp to keep things interesting, but definitely a cute game with pleasant music to boot!
Thanks for playing! There actually is a mechanic that increases the enemy spawn rate over time, but I mistakenly made it far too slow to be noticeable.
Great art. Really well done and great choice of sound and music. I love the presentation. I sat in the middle of the screen and just held the fire button and moved the mouse so I think it needs something to get the player moving.
Fair point, I'll add some incentive for moving if I expand on this game later. Thanks for playing!
My Favorite so far. Lots of fun!
That means a lot to me, thank you!
Fun concept and visuals. I really love this interpretation of the theme. Also... you have a button dedicated to the robot making a beep noice... PERFECT
Glad you liked it, the beep button is definitely my favorite feature!
I really enjoyed the visuals of the game and your take on the theme. Nice job!
Thank you for the kind words!
Fun take on the theme! I really like the design of the control panel, looks very polished. I especially love the fact that the buttons use push animations whenever you press the corresponding key. The game itself could be a bit more challenging. Well done!
I appreciate the feedback! While I didn't want the game's difficulty to distract the player from the main mechanics, it is definitely too easy as it stands.
