Fun idea and the narration really helped fill in the missing pieces. The ending is also brilliant lol

Only part I wasn't keen on was the platforms where each platform, you get a new set of controls and you have to test everything until you find them. That felt a little tedious.

But it tied into the theme well and I enjoyed it so good job ^^

Good job! I like this take on the theme making it really fun to play. Well done! :)

Great Game!!!

Fits the theme very well. I would perhaps add some kind of indicator to help the player know what keys they are going to be using or an anticipatory signal that the keys will change.

Developer

Did you play the game with sound? The narrator tells you the right keys most times. I think making the key changes predictable would make the game much less fun and less theme-fitting. But thanks for the feedback nevertheless! In the end it doesn't matter what the developer thinks about his game, but what the players think :)

I didn't, completely my fault then. I couldn't as my girlfriend was sleeping on the couch next to me but I'll definitely play again later.

Funny, simple, on theme. I liked the whistle at the end;)

Really good execution on this idea and good way to interpret platformers

Fantastic execution. There’s a fair number of other games in the jam changing controls but I think the way you did it was unique and way more fun, not to mention humorous.

The simple graphics and level design brought the voice over/control problems front and centre, which are the main reasons to play.

More than once I was looking frantically between the keyboard and the screen to see which keys would make the character move again.

Very very well done!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the music track fits the game perfectly!

I usually don't enjoy platformer games as I'm really bad in them, but this one was simple enough to keep me going for a while. Also very nice visuals and the voice over is entertaining. Good job.

Brilliantly executed: it takes a fun concept and makes for a challenging but beatable game. The voiceover contributed to both the understanding of the game and to the humour, and the music fit the absurdity of the whole experience well. The changing colour of the background helped with learning what to do, and the charmingly goofy art fit the game well. Thanks for making this!

Developer

Thanks for noticing all that subtile decisions :D

This game was a great experience!! I loved the concept! Art is simple but good looking, and the music is great too! I especially loved that you used your own voice and made a story out of an interesting gameplay mechanic. Well Done :D

PS: If you would like, please try out my game too :)

Kinda enjoyable at first! It starts to get a bit tedious. I was tempted to stick to the end but I have a sneaking suspicion that I might need a keypad at some point (which I don't have).  All in all a charming little interaction. After the dialogue stopped my desire to continue did as well. Good job on the jam submission.

You actually don't need a key pad. All you need are the standard letters, arrow keys and space - and of course an open ear for the dev which tells you the right keys most times. Maybe you can give it another try :) Nevertheless, thanks for the feedback!

Oh, awesome! Thanks for the reply. Knowing it's possible I may very well give it another go later.

Wow, this is a great idea for the theme. Well done and charming voice acting :D

Super fun idea, I really enjoyed this one! Good Job!

Out of all the platformers that have this type of "changing keys" gameplay, I think you pulled it off the best! The narration really helps with the experience, which drew me in to play until the end.

Developer

That's nice to hear! Can you give some examples of some other changing-keys-platformers (as link or just the name)? Would love to check out, how other people worked with that idea.

Submitted(+1)

Idea matches very strongly with the theme. Great job!

Submitted(+1)

Just delightful! I like that it was a completed game with a journey. I presume the voice is your own, and it add such a delightful touch that it made the game that much more enjoyable!

Bang on theme, and fun too, you had me laughing when it ended :D Well executed, on theme and cute. Was nice with a finite experience as well! If you have time would you play and rate our game as well? :) https://itch.io/jam/gmtk-2020/rate/692904

Fun game! Its interesting having to figure out the new controls.

Had some good laughs with this one, fun game! Even tough the mechanics are simple i think it’s well executed and even has some things that i didn’t expect like the button that jumps and goes forward at the same time. I also liked the little details like the ground that appears when you jump, nice touch. One thing i didn’t like is that at the end the screen just goes black and i couldn’t have the time to fully appreciate my victory.

Developer(+1)

Hey, thanks for the feedback! In the end the dev says "everything is wor-" (-king again), but actually it's not and the game just decides to quit itself. Maybe I didn't made that clear enough, yeah.

Submitted(+1)

Now that you explain it makes sense to me lol. At first i thought you just have didn’t have the time to finish that part, sorry.
