How does your game fit the theme?
The theme is about people bulk buying stuff out of control, and now all the waste returns to take revenge. In the game, the player's character is out of (direct) control, and they can only aid him through indirect means to fight perished perishables.

solid 4 stars.

desptie the one-button controls, this game is actually very engaging.

my high score is 135.

do the powerups grant permanent buffs?

Developer

Thank you for checking out our game, despite the fact that it's not a platformer! ;)

Yes, buffs stack up until the end of the game. And 135 is a pretty solid score. Thanks again! :)

I  like the concept, but I feel as though there should be more control over the location of pickups, especially since the character has to move to get them. In addition I think there is nothing for the player to do while waiting for placeables to charge.

Developer

Thank you for giving the game a go, and for your detailed feedback! We wanted to add more control to the placement of items originally, had several different ideas in mind, but in the end we couldn't get either of them to be good enough to leave it in. Probably with some more time we would've found a way, and I agree that it'd add an extra layer of strategic play which would improve the experience a lot. :) Thanks again!

An interesting concept that seems a bit rough around the corners. I wish I could at least control where I put the items to make them more accessible for my character. I like the style of the game though and the AI seems simple yet sufficient. I wonder what this would look like if the player would move through a full level and you have to adapt his items according to what dangers he is currently facing.

Either way, for a jam game this is pretty damn cool!

Thank you for playing the game, and also for your feedback. I agree that more control over the item positions would improve the experience of the game, but we couldn't fit that into the timeframe we had for development. Moving through a level is definitely an interesting idea we haven't considered before. :) Thanks again!

I liked the music and the sound effects, the game also fits the "out of control" theme very well with the random upgrades. Overall, was a fun experience.

Nice game! Very original gameplay, made a top down shooter very strategic! I also liked the music a lot, and it fits well to the game. Well Done!

Gotta love the use of unity's particle system. *thumbs up*

Thank you for taking the time to play our game! This jam was a good excuse to finally learn how to use the particle system. ;)

The idea suits the game jam topic well, I loved the art too! Despite the length of the tutorial, the mechanics were simple and easy to learn. I also liked it that you can use the items to gain a little control over the movement of your character.

I found the character movement a bit unpredictable while not using any items, it would be great if the player could in some way guess where the character will move. The UI might be also improved by marking the following few items you cannot choose while the black timer is active, and displaying the stats of the character (shield/damage) might also be useful to the player, but these are just some suggestions for a post-jam update, if there will be any. Anyway, the game is cool and fun, good job!

An addictive concept, one of my fav idea, great work team !

This was a really interesting game with smart mechanics. I had a lot of fun trying to decide if it was worth it to place down certain powerups that I know the main character would get hurt trying to reach. It was a real fun struggle of trying to balance his life. Good job!

The idea for the game is really good. The game is not too simple and not too complicated. Feels quite balanced. Very good job guys!

I really enjoyed this, a very unique take on the "shooter out of control" concept.   Placing the upgrades being your only influence was a stroke of genius, felt more like watching a movie than playing a game.   Also really loved the art and social commentary, love that it had a great lesson :)

I thought the game concept was super unique and a great take on the theme. I appreciated the commentary on unnecessary bulk buying and waste. I really liked the game play and enjoyed playing it far quite a while. Great game!

I found this oddly chill! It was nice that "out of control" meant less stress instead of more! So many games in the jam are just crazy hard, but this is nice and fun to sit with. Great work :-)

Interesting idea you came up with. I'm really impressed with how much you got done in the time.

Cool game!  It's interesting because you have to judge where you player will go if you put down the powerup.  It might be helpful to have some kind of say as to where the player goes when there isn't a power up on the screen.  He seems to just wander around aimlessly.  And if that's the case, I feel like it's not too much of  a disadvantage to put down the powerup.  But, again, I really enjoyed it!

pretty cool game, it's fun and I like the art

Pretty original take - only wish I had a little more info on the impact of the upgrades but overall solid submission.
