How does your game fit the theme?
Have you ever wanted to be a tornado? In Crunch-Nado you pilot a tornado spiraling out of control. You have to try your best to keep it aligned as it constantly fights against your input and will. Keep the speed and scale balance in check to find a sweet-spot of control with the tornado. Collect Power Ups to assist you in this task, these will give you speed buffs and are vital to your survival. You are able to destroy almost everything in the game world, but doing so costs you speed but also increases your scale. The tornado is hungry, lets feed it!

The screenshots of your entry remind me of my entry! Too much screen shake dude (I guess its out of control?) Nice crunchy sound and its fun to wreck havoc on the city. Fantastic work doing the art and effective SFX.

I think this is a really well put together mechanic, it's simple to understand and you quickly get into the eating-up buildings. I do think that the losing condition is a bit lacking, I don't really understand when I'm in trouble due to the competing things popping in the UI and the, to my personal opinion, too loud SFX sounds (in comparison to the music).

I think that focusing on fewer element in the UI or having less competing colors for most of them would help clears thing out.

I would have loved to have the tornado keep on increasing in size, à-là Katamari Daimachi, it would be an interesting idea to explore, having things scale really up!

Nevertheless, great job, clean and fun outcome!

Love the game! Really like the sound effect crunch thing when the tornado eat something, felt satisfying

Awesome presentation and super original! I would have chosen a more aggressive BGM though xD

Try exporting the game to a browser version, it will help people procrastinate and let off some stress when they have some shitty task to do xD

Congrats!

I'm having fun on this game, it gives the player freedom to roam anywhere and devour any object. The tornado one is impressive, the model is scalable as you eat and some shaders looks pretty awesome imo.  There's just one thing that I don't like about the game, it's the camera feedback was a bit too much when eat something. Other than that, what a cool and polished game, well done!

Lol so satisfying , I destroyed everything, really fun game

Developer

Jup, that's what my main focus was! I wanted it to be all about destruction!

Glad you liked it.

Being a tornado is fun! Love the presentation in this and there's something really satisfying about the crunch sounds and the way the camera zooms as you suck things up. Seems kinda easy? But then again, it's pretty cathartic :)

Developer

Yeah its pretty easy right now, I struggled to find the right balance for game-play.

I would loved to have more time to work on specific stuff but 48 hours isn't that much so I just focused mostly on the mechanics.

Very cool and solid game for a game jam. I enjoyed my two play sessions. In the first I was not paying to much attention and wandered off into the forest which is a bad idea because you can't survive long without the speed powerups. On my second try I cleared the whole city and I was a little disappointed when it was over.

It would have been really cool to have levels or procedurally generated maps, but I know that there is only so much time in a game jam and this is not lowering your final score.

The graphics and sounds are really awesome. The screen shake/zoom maybe is a little too intense for me.

Very cool game. 👍

I'm glad you liked it!

Yeah a bigger and more alive map would have been great but unfortunately I ran out of time.

The speed powerups are pretty vital to the tornado yeah as destroying stuff makes you slow down a lot.

I agree about the screen shakes, If I keep working on it I'll make those a bit less intense.

Thanks for playing.

I saw this game and immediately thought to myself "Self! This is your time to finally rid the world of all those little matchbox cars and silly houses!" Four hours later, I'm still obsessively playing Crunch-Nado! One of THE BEST indie games I've seen- AND had the privilege to try out in a very, VEEEEEERY long time! Would love to see more time put in on this as a possible future project! VERY WELL DONE Aligned Games <3 <3!!!!!!!1

I can't help myself but this comment really sounds like one of those super face comments that would get posted to Amazon or similar sides to attract buyers. :D
The game is really fun tho.

Yeah this guy got a bit excited haha, glad he liked it so much.

Original and fun concept, but envirment feels kinda dead. Could you use some driving cars or pedestrians running away. Outside of that this game is interesting

Developer

Yeah I agree, I wanted to add cars that drive around and even some like firemen or something that try and fight you but I just couldn't find the time in this jam. I might add all this stuff in the future if I decide to keep working on it.
