Unique concept and charming execution! Definitely feels like it could be a great indie RPG in the future. Until it unexpectedly crashed when I was talking to the guard, I was having a great time :)

Developer

I'm sorry to hear that! I'll add that to the notes of the game. We're you able to pass by the guard?

I passed by the first one, then reached the second one fine. Went off to explore to find a solution, came back, talked to the first guard again then crashed. I was jumped at the same time as talking which may have contributed? I tried to replicate it but no success so I'm not sure exactly what it was.

I found the cause of the problem, and put a remedy for it in the comments if you weren't able to progress further then that. Thank you for your help in finding the bug!

Such a cool concept! This game definitely had a lot of potential to grow into something much larger, and can definitely see this idea expanded into a full adventure / rpg kinda game. The writing is also really funny! (props for using the word aggrandized)

As other people have pointed out, I think some good quality of life improvements would be making the difference between taking and replacing a word more obvious, preventing the player from moving if there is more dialog (it took me a while to realize characters had more to say), and making the "clickable" area for a word a little bigger (maybe even make it drag / drop instead of click?). Other than that, this is a really solid foundation, especially for a first jam! Well done

Good job on you guys first game jam!

Loved the Idea!

I love the idea, but the controls were a bit wonky for me, and it wasn't obvious when I could swap words and when I could steal them.
I love the dialogue and the sense of humor though!

These graphics are super charming, and the music fits really well despite there being only one track. This take on the theme was really, really interesting and unique, I think my English teacher would appreciate it haha. The animations (especially the dancing) were extremely lovable, and the dialogue is funny and well written. For a first jam game, your team has done an amazing job in the 48 hours given.

Some suggestions I would make is to freeze the player during important sections of dialogue so you don't accidentally skip it. It also took me a bit to figure out what the controls were, if there was a way to tell the player the controls without directly telling them (like having them written on the ground or so) then it would be perfect.

Probably one of the most graphically charming games I've played, great job again!

superb idea, it's fun to play but i don't understand what i need to do after replacing frog with cat.

Developer

thank you for checking it out! if you were able to get the cat, it provides the last word you need to defeat the rat inside the castle.
