Interesting game. I included it in my GMTK compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

The game's concept and plot was very interesting, and I really wish more was done with it, like having enemies that acted like a ball-and-chain or starting out as one of the amalgamated scientists yourself.

I'm also unsure if I got lucky or if the boss was that easy, since all I did was spam bullets to block its' shots and try to shoot it back when it was on the ground.

Still, other than the already-known glitches, the game was pretty fun, and I'd love to see a more fleshed out version with the same storyline!

Thanks for the advice! Sadly, we only had 2 hours to spare at the end of the jam, which made it near impossible to make it any more fleshed out, like adding advanced enemies (even though I planned it). Also, yep- the boss is that easy: for a game jam making a boss too difficult could result in your reviewer quitting prematurely, so I made sure that it was easily beatable.

I'm not sure if my game-dev partner will continue this exact theme, but I'm planning on my eventual genuine Metroidvania game being set in the human body.

Thanks for playing :D

Yeah, that's the nature of game jams, sometimes you just gotta drop stuff. And that part about not making the game too hard I should've kept in mind for my own game, haha.

I love the concept of a Metroidvania game set in the human body - it really reminds me of the game Bowser's Inside Story, if you've heard of that. I'd definitely follow the development of it if you start working on it!

Interesting level design! I loved the different thematics and I really quite liked this gameplay-wise as well! Very well done, though I maybe would have liked a bit more variation in the tiles. Maybe consider dropping me a rate as well: Project Marble. Have a great day!

Hey; thanks for the rating! Rated your game as well.

Thank you!

I enjoyed playing this game - easy to understand the controls, but at the same time, I enjoyed having to work out how to jump between smaller platforms.  I thought the storyline was kinda fun too!!

Great game, love the artwork and movement, not quite completed yet but nearly there.

Respect for attempting a metroidvania, you clearly understand the genre and how level design should work. I liked the enemies, I would've liked seeing more of such Cronenberg decorations around the levels. The game works fine, my only problem being the fight with the flying giant fused carcass. Because you can't aim up you can barely hit the enemy and even if you climb the little steps it'll fly above you anyway. Very thoughtful of you to let the player keep upgrades on death.

Yeah- the boss is really hard: personally, I wait until it is at the bottom of the map, and then pummel it with 60 bullets, insta-killing it. The rest of the time is just survival.

Thanks for playing my game!

Cool Metroidvania, would be cool if you wouldn't snap back and forth between doors if they face opposite directions, but really cool non the less. <3

Thanks for the advice, and thanks for playing my game!

Metroidvania + Cronenberg body horror? Sign me up! Fun game, reminds me of SNES-era games like Krusty's Fun House. The "Joined Together" connection to the theme is a bit loose (no effect on gameplay), but there's potential in the game. I like you can restart with upgrades. One good thing is that despite the "samey-ness" of the environment, it wasn't very hard to navigate it regardless. All in all, very nice for a single developer in the team!

Thank you :)

It's a decent Metroidvania for a game jam, but it definitely lacks polish.  While I appreciate that different areas have different colors, the environments do still look very bland with only one kind of tile.  The story and dialogue boxes are a nice touch, but other than that it feels like you wanted to make a Metroidvania more than something that fits the theme since the "Joined Together" theme doesn't affect gameplay at all.

Developer

Hi, hit the nail on the head when it comes to the environment and polish! Just a shame that I couldn't think of anything better than angry amalgamates- maybe Undertale was in my head at the time?

Wasnt sure how to progress, sometimes colliding with an enemy killed me, sometimes it didn't.

Developer(+1)

Hi! In the bottom left corner, there is a health gage that'll tell you how many more hits you can take. The game is intentionally illinear, so look around and find some stuff to progress! :)

Oh alright, thanks for pointing it out, but some visual indicators of the player getting hit would be helpful.

Interesting story idea. Wasn't sure where to go but was able to find jump boots and go further in the game. Joined together theme was quite short and not really a part of the games mechanics. Character controller seemed good.

Developer

Thanks for playing my game! The game was intentionally confusing, as it is a metroidvania, despite the fact that you always follow the same path. The theming was very light, indeed, but we had no clue what to do for the theme at hand :)
