Nice game. Also liked the background music and sound effects. Overall great job.
Nice little game.
My only 2 complaints is that the tank are not set to your position and rotation when "pick them up", and that I have to wait for the next wave wave after I pick up the only remaining tank.
But that is totally okay for a game jam game, nice work! :)
This may sound odd, but we actually intended this oddity of a mechanic.
If you turn the magnet with your mouse before it attaches, you can have it cover your mech and shoot in multiple directions instead of just the one. This was inspired by a previous idea, where we were about to have weapons attach themselves onto the mech to fit the join together theme. And the catch would be that they can stick onto the head of the mech, but you can barely control where they're aiming at.
I understand why people may not like this mechanic though. I hope it's not too frustrating though.
Hmm, I see. That's sound cool, I thought I can have only one tank on me at a time, so I did not even tried to have more. :D
I have seen a game with a similar idea with weapons, and it was a lot of fun, so that could work.
In that case, I would adjust the tanks position from a fix distance from your character, so they would make a ring around.
And maybe you could use them as shields too. :D
Someone mentioned the shield idea too
I also wanted to implement this idea, but it sadly didn't make it through. I'm glad other people are interested in this concept though!
I really like this game. The controls are easy, and the mechanic of picking up different enemies makes it fun. Good job!
Agreeing with @Lachlan_Brown this game is so cool!
It was also challenging and required me a couple of playthroughs to manage to dodge before I magnetise.
Great idea with just allowing 3 shots.
Well done! Music also rocks btw!
Hello! I'm glad you liked it!
This is due to a mechanic that allows you to stick the enemy onto the side of your mech instead. If planned or done intentionally and effectively, you can shoot in multiple directions at once. I understand that it is very difficult and this mechanic may have it be even more unreasonable, but we thought it was interesting. It also came from the original concept of the game.
It's alright!
I think we should have mentioned that you can magnetize multiple enemies at once. While it doesn't say "you cannot", we didn't say you can magnetize multiple enemies together in the game. I'll be sure to remember this so I can tell the possibilities the player can utilize.
Fun game. It's satisfying to turn enemies against each others . Fits well with the theme, The only complaint I have is I would have liked to be able to block bullets with magnetised enemies.
Good Job!
Thanks for playing! Truth be told, I also wanted to have the player block the shots. It was one of my ideas in the design phase I mentioned to the team. Reading your comment made me happy to remember it.
Yeah I understand completely. With only 2 days you have to let some things go. ;)
I loved the art and sounds and mechanics and even the menu. Great game. The enemies did spawn a little slowly at first, but that was good once the next waves started adding stronger enemies. I've seen a lot of "recruit enemies to fight with you" so far, but this was a really cool twist on that.
WHAT I LIKED:
- The game was charming. Music and simple art style really worked.
- I appreciate all the polish that went into it from the magnetized shaking to the responsiveness of the menus.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- honestly I couldn't think of any critiques. I really thought you guys did a great job.
IN CONCLUSION:
- Great job!
I like the variety of enemies you can magnetize! was fun and chaotic! great job!
This was a lot of fun! It took a while for me to get that you could magnetize any number of tanks -- once I understood that, the game became much more of a fun bullet hell with a 'get out of jail free card' of firing your untold number of tanks' bullets. Thanks!
This was fun! The variety of enemies definitely keeps it interesting, and there's some fun "risk/reward" in deciding whether to destroy or try to grab the more difficult enemies.
This game is a lot of fun to play! Great work!
