Fun game! Goes a bit mad when the particles get colliding fast...
Thanks! I agree that it gets pretty crazy, I like to think it mirrors the development :) 48 hours goes by too fast!
Nice concept and well executed! The graphics and sounds fit the gameplay and lore. Felt more luck-based than skill-based to me though, sometimes the atoms would jump around like pinballs. The last few levels took a lot of tries. Glad the gameplay loop is fast though!
I definitely think that giving the player a few more tools would help a lot. A couple of ideas we had just had to get cut for time- as I'm sure you found out, 48 hours isn't a lot! Thanks for checking it out!
Very interesting concept! I loved the way the laser moved.
Thank you! I like the snappy movement too!
Reversal of the theme, split apart rather than joined together, I like it! Simple to learn, but hard to master.. requires some patience, sniping accuracy, and luck! Things do escalate quickly if a molecule gets accidentally hit, and starts flying about! Good job on a fun game! :D
Oh yeah, you definitely want to be careful when moving into atoms, you can really send them flying. Thanks for playing!
This was nice! I like how we have to split something up here. That make this game more unique among the entries =D
Thanks! We definitely tried to think out of the box when we were brainstorming, didn't want someone to do the same thing we did!
wow, it was interesting and unique, nice and very original concept, controls felt nice and smooth good work guys :D
Thanks so much for playing!
Fun and unique! The controls felt good, especially the spinning. The beam could maybe be improved with a charge-and-release or something like that.
That's a really good idea for the beam, we hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for playing!
I found this game pretty fun with nice sound effects but by the end, I felt like it got a bit too hard because the atoms seemed to be bouncing around randomly and really fast. Also when I finally beat a level I got 'Success' but then it said 'Failure' after so I just gave up
Sorry about the failure bug! Seems like there's always one that gets away. If you hit the atoms with your laser they can definitely get moving, faster than I can really handle. Maybe some kind of drag effect above a certain speed would have helped. But either way, thanks for playing!
amazing work! It was chaotic and fun especially the last level, though it seems to be quite unpredictable and relies on trials and errors too much.
Thanks for playing! There's definitely a line where there are just too many atoms on screen at once, but in our rush to finish I had no idea what that was. I just wanted to make a pyramid for the last level, so pyramid I made!
I could totally see this expanded with different types of atoms (maybe different physics properties or movement patterns) or upgrades for the "splitter gun". As others have said, this is really quick to pick up but quiet addictive! great job overall
We actually had ideas for some stuff like that! A couple of different projectiles for the gun even made it into the build but were turned off, mostly just due to time. Thanks for playing!
This was great! You can really get lost in just trying to split those atoms and the fact that they bounce off of each other and really change up each other's direction and momentum keeps you on your toes. Really well done and great physics!
Thank you! The physics was something we really wanted to feel right, and I'm pretty happy with where things landed.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Hey! Very neat idea, quite addicting gameplay. The game is simple, but not easy. I saw that people already pointed out the bug with the stage being failed after already succeded, so I won't go into detail with it. I love the physics on the atoms, even though it created some randomness it was still very cool.
Enjoyed the game very much, good to see you come back for second year in a row :)
Hey thanks! We had a ton of fun last year and it was great to return to the jam this year with a little experience and even more people! We tried to strike a balance between making the physics predictable while also feeling a little chaotic. I'm pretty happy with where things landed, but it's definitely something we would've loved to spend more time on if we could.
Thanks for playing, and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great concept, love the tempest game feel. I got caught out by failing after succeeding too but no worries. It's to be expected in a game jam! :-D
Thank you! That bug is definitely something I wish we had time to go back and fix, but I'm glad you still enjoyed the game!
Really cool concept! It felt a bit unfair that you could fail after succeeding; the atoms are quite uncontrollable after they're split. I liked the laser SFX!
Thanks for playing! Sounds like you found the one major bug we didn't have time to fix haha, once you've won you're not supposed to be able to take damage. It usually worked fine for me but there was some edge case where it was still possible. Hope it didn't happen to you too much!
Really like the art and the sound effects make the game feel very polished. The control are great and the concept for the game is very enjoyable
Thanks for playing, we really appreciate it!
Nicely polished and feels really snappy to play. The swoosh sound of the laser spinning around and the bwam of the laser are also very satisfying.
Thank you! I wasn't the one who made the spinning sound, but I'm really happy with how it turned out. It's quiet, but I think really fills in the feeling of moving the laser. If we had more time I would have loved to keep going and make even more electronic sounds!
This is awesome! Love that although you can get hit multiple times, getting hit once or twice in the later levels makes it more likely that you'll get hit. It's a very natural way for the game to become more difficult. The visuals and sounds were great too (especially the ending part)!
Thanks for playing, and for beating it, good job!
Things can definitely get out of hand if you hit an atom with your laser too hard and send it flying. When I was playing I tried to stop moving if I was going to take a hit either way, just to keep the field a little more manageable. Not sure if that was the vision from the start, but I'll take some emergent strategy!
Cool idea and good execution! :)
Thank you!
Nice game! It feels very satisfying to knock off half the atoms in one shot. I found the laser speed a bit fast and hard to control, but other than that great work!
Thank you! Depending on the structure of the atoms, for a few levels it's possible to separate quite a few of them in your first shot, which I think is a good thing!
We definitely knew that the laser speed would be something we would want to tweak, it started out far too slow. I guess you're all our playtesters, though, so thanks for the feedback!
Nice idea for a shoot em up. Feels very satisfying to get a collateral.
Thanks for playing! When we made the levels, the one with two sets of two atoms was really easy to beat in one shot, but I'm glad we left it kind of easy to do for exactly that reason, it's very satisfying!
