How does your game fit the theme?
A flame is attached to you by a rope, and you need to use it to get to the end of the level. It is your source of light, heat, and ignition. But it's still attached to you, and burning through the rope. Can you use the flame without getting burned by it?

I have absolutely no idea how I’m supposed to beat even the first level. Even holding D the whole time, the character can’t even get to the first tree before being set on fire. Is there a sprint key I don’t know about?

Developer

Sorry about any inconvenience caused. You control the flame with the mouse. WASD or arrow keys to move. Space to jump.

No sprint key unfortunately. I hope that helps!

Yeah I noticed all of those keys – how do I complete the first level? I hold D and die before I get to the trees

Developer

Are you moving the mouse as well? The only thing I can imagine is if the flame is in a static position.

Those trees are actually blocks of ice, you need to melt them accordingly by hovering your mouse on it.

What am I doing wrong here? https://gfycat.com/EverlastingIllegalBighornedsheep

[EDIT: I mean the character sometimes glitches forward if I swing the torch but not always… Is this framerate dependent? What’s going on? I never even got that far but as soon as I recorded the screen the behavior changed]

Developer(+1)

Oh man, I'm not sure why that is happening. The player speed is far too low for you. What is your screen resolution?

That is obviously a fault on our side with how we coded player movement, so I apologise. But thank you for taking the time to try our game, and especially the amount of time in trying to help solve the issue.

Uh, I’m running 1440p at 165hz – it’s hard to say what the problem’s about

It’s unfortunate I couldn’t properly see the full game but hopefully it’s just my system having issues with it (I notice other people in the comments seem fine)

Thanks for taking the time to reply

Oh man I want moreee. I'd really like to see a full version of this game at some point. The music gives it a super eerie tone and it fits so well with the atmosphere. Great work

This game was super fun, original, and the fire and using portal effects were beautiful 5 stars all around I wish there were more levels

A very neat concept!

That's a really cool idea you got there.

I like the fact that the flame serve multiple purpose (The light source, melting the ice, eplode the TNT, burn the players), but also, is your demise if you are too slow.

The controls are a bit stiff, but I can clearly see the potential of your initial idea. Good job !

(And no, I will not delete system32 :p)

We burnt ourselves multiple times, but we were engaged to play through to the end.
