What a creative idea! Never seen a game with such an interesting premise before.

My main criticism of the game is that it's fun to play until it really isn't. Got to year 12, and by then I was a bit bored with the core gameplay loop. Maybe you can add something to spice things up in the future?

The interface, while fully functional, looks a little bare. Though it was really nice to have a fast-forward button, wish more games would do that.
The main theme is nice, but it does get repetitive after a while.

Overall, a nice game! Good job.

Thank you! Do agree that more upgrades/events would be needed to keep the core gameplay loop engaging long term. Better balancing would help there too. More art and music could help a lot too - Thank for your feedback!

It took a bit of playing to understand things fully, but it proviced an enjoyable experience. With further tweaking, I know this game would be a hit!

Developer

Thank you so much!

A very interesting take on the theme! a bit hard to understand at first but somehow it is very fun once you do. Simple and clean designee, very nice job overall

Thank you so much!

I like the music, the animation of moving envelopes.

It's a great game for a game jam!

If you are planning to improve it further, I would make feedback more clear. Currently, I felt like it didn't matter who I placed where (maybe I was good at it), the names of the characters didn't stick in my mind, so you should show their stories differently.

I wish the feedback would look like a newspaper like in Sheepolution's "One Act", or his "One Take"

Otherwise it feels like there's no point to my actions

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Definitely agree about needing more feedback. Interesting idea about the newspaper - could have a similar thing for events as well.

This was so fun and addicting for me I played it for like 20 minutes lol. I would love to see you update this and add more to it! I think it would be great with more visuals and maybe more simulation features for working with your group and planning shows. Super fun game, great work!

Developer

So glad you enjoyed! Definitely agree, I'd love to add in more visuals like headshots to bring the game to life. Thank you so much!

Very interesting concept.  The gameplay was great, the card section after a performance was a bit long for me but aside from that amazing job!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! I did add a shift button to speed up the animations, though I should've made that clear in game. Thanks for playing!

Neat game idea! Love the art ^^ I really liked that you had the green line for who likes to work with who

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!

This idea has a lot of room for future development.

It's a very simple implementation that works well in a game jam setting, and juggling the actors' happiness and relationships is just a good glimpse of how complex a game like this could get.

Neat idea, and I could see this being developed into a full, in-depth sim game! :)

Developer

Thank you so much! Glad you can see the vision.

Really cool and unique idea! I liked it!

first time all those professional debuts almost ruined everything for me :D

the concept is so fresh and unique! i really enjoyed playing :)

i would probably love to have a bit more of control, as sometimes you are doing great and everyone is happy, but then a couple of actors leave and you don't have enough left to entertain the audience :(

maybe an ending after you got the audience absolutely happy would be good :)

and as it is sometimes hard to remember the actors' names, some 'profile picture' or something like that would possibly be of great help as well!

i also thought that it would be even more engaging if there were some theater sounds, like rounds of applause :)

lots of ideas after playing haha, your game definitely evokes emotions!

Developer(+1)

So glad you enjoyed! Love the ideas you've given, especially for the sfx!

It was cool being able to cast people and see the effects the casting has on each person. I think it would've been nice if there was a headshot or something similar for each person to be able to remember then better. Overall I had a lot of fun playing this game!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! Definitely agree that headshots would help the actors come to life.

I was salty after the first "moving on up" event :> Really neat idea though (I liked the music too)! Having a menu where you can view the history for each character might be nice, my memory isn't great so it was hard for me to keep track of / care about more than 3-4 characters at a time ^^

Developer

Great idea! Always a shame to lose your best actors.

Super innovative idea! I love how all the affairs coming up and make this a living group. Nice music too! Please check out mine as welL!

I love this idea for a game!

Would like to see more repercution of my actions, like seeing how every play went for example.

But i think this idea with some work on could make an awesome full fleshed game :)

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed! Definitely agree - would be fun to see how the plays go, maybe have some audience reviews too!

I absolutely love this game. It really felt like I was casting real people and there were so many references. I would pay real money to play a full-release version of this. There was a bug, however. After playing for a while, everyone would leave the theatre and the game would throw up an error message. Still, probably one of my favorite games in the jam!

Developer

I'm so glad you enjoyed! Some commenters have given me great ideas on how to expand the game. Shame about the bug, I'll look into it!

This is the most unique idea I’ve seen so far. I casted two best friends as leads and they ended up becoming enemies.

Developer

So glad you enjoyed! The relationships definitely give the best drama.

surprisingly interresting!

I can see a polished version with "real" performance and public reactions

a bit like the sims, where your workers could practice and get better and gain experience from their participation. Then there the whole recruiting

many aspect could be handled like budgetting, marketting, paying actors, charging for thickets.

Then there are more famous actors attracting more people and jalousy.

:)

good work!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed! A money mechanic would be a great addition given more time. I was surprised myself with how sim-like it became - Now I want to make a full version!

Submitted

Very cool concept. I like how you kinda have to just roll with things and do your best under the circumstances, but it feels like there isn't much player choice or input in the gameplay.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the concept! I do agree it can feel that way, this gives me some ideas as to how it can be upgraded in the future!

Submitted

Very interesting idea. I wanted to do something with stage plays but couldn't get a solid idea. I'm happy someone was able to and run with it!

Developer

Glad I was able to do that for you!
